Rugby Extravaganza North Wales Cup Finals
The second weekend of the Zipworld/GMJones Ltd North Wales Cup Finals take place at Parc Eirias with three finals on Saturday 9th which includes the showpiece Senior North Wales Cup and one final on Sunday 10th May.
There were great games in last Saturday's Extravaganza which saw Pwllheli edging Bro Ffestiniog in the Senior Plate and their 2ndXV defeating Llangefni 2nds to win the inaugural Second XV trophy in a very exciting game.
The action starts this Saturday with the final of the North Wales Youth Plate between Pwllheli and Bala Kicking off at 11-30am. The youngsters will be all out to take the honours and silverware back to their clubs.
This is followed by the Intermediate Plate Final KO 1-45pm between newly crowned Div 3 champions Llanidloes and Div 2 side Menai Bridge.Promoted Llanidloes who are undefeated this season will provide a stern test for their Div 2 opponents. These clubs will face each other in Div 2 next season and it promises to be a great final.
The showpiece North Wales Senior Cup Final will kick off at 3-45pm and will see six time winners Nant Conwy take on Dolgellau. League form make this season's runners up Nant favourites against third from bottom Dolgellau who have not won the trophy. Cup rugby is not always, however, a follower of form and the Nant boys will not be over confident as Dol finished their season strongly and will be all out to make club history in taking this prestigious trophy back to Dolgellau for the first time.
This game has the ingredients to be a cracker worthy of the long and great traditions of the competition.
Parc Eiras gates will open at 10-30-am -a full day's rugby (all 3 matches) for an admission of a fiver with boys/girls under 16 -free.
Sunday 10th May KO 12-30pm (Gate open 11-30pm)will see newly promoted Abergele take on Harlech in the Intermediate Cup Final. It has been a great season for Gele winning promotion to the top flight but can The Men of Harlech dent their end of season celebrations?
Come along to Parc Eirias to see community rugby at its best.
