46 members of Bala rugby club descended on Berlin over the bank holiday weekend for a cultural tour of Germany's capital city.
The itinerary included a game of rugby against Sports Club Siemensstadt on the Saturday, a guided bike ride around the city's attractions on the Sunday, and a busy evening schedule of museums and art galleries.
Whilst Germany is famed for its sausage, fermented cabbage and motorcars, it isn't quite as well know for its rugby. The visitors overwhelmed their opponents by 47 points to 12 in a celebration of open running rugby. Ilan Tal y Bont scored a hat trick at centre and Rhydian Prys, Owain Pugh and Telor Jones each bagged fine individual tries.
Team Manager, Rhydian Mwnc Morris, showed exactly why he has a 100% winning record on tour when he swapped the forwards for the backs at half time- Robin Cablyd's perfectly weighted box kicks at scrum half and Tom Hughes and Dave Yates' blistering pace in Bala's back line were simply too much for Sports Club Siemensstadt!
Man of the match went to the eldest player in the team, Richard Branas, for playing a full 80 minutes in a gimp costume.
The afternoon was spent socialising with Sports Club Siemensstadt before returning to the city centre to take on more museums and art galleries.
