The Festival was named ‘The Bob Anderson Memorial Festival’ in memory of Bob who not only was a town businessman and councillor but also a great supporter of Y GOGs and had toured and played with the Caernarfon Oldies on many occasions.
In excellent conditions each team had 3 games and all games ended as drawn matches as in Golden Oldies rules they must!
During the lunch break Brian Roberts Y GOGs treasurer presented local representatives with cheques as support to local good causes. Ambiwlans Awyr. Andrew Craig for Breast Cancer Research and the Bob Anderson Events Fund as well as Ysgol Pendalar who could not attend because of their open day, received a donation of £500 each from Y GOGs.
The afternoon continued in the same spirit of Fun, Friendship and Fraternity and after an evening meal prepared by Paul Tayor, Nia Thomas and Ann Hopyn in the Club’s kitchen Emrys Jones chair of Y GOGs presented each team with a slate plaque and the Anderson family presented the Bob Anderson Memorial Cup to the Ageing Pandas from Ireland.
Emrys Jones was standing down as chair after 7 years thanked everyone at Clwb Rygbi Caernarfon for their support and hard work and hoped that the teams which attended the Festival would join EGOR (European Golden Oldies Rub) and join Y GOGs in Trieste for the 11th GO festival in 12 months time.
The very successful day ended with Tenby Oldies offering to host the 2nd All Wales Festival in two years time and many songs were sung and tales told.
