A gifted Preparatory School rugby star has been rewarded for a fine campaign with an end-of-season honour.
Cieran Milligan, a Year 4 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, claimed the Tackler of the Year award from Colwyn Bay Rugby Club after a series of fine performances.
The nine-year-old recorded no fewer than 288 tackles for the club’s U9 side throughout the season, which amounted to 28 per cent of the team’s overall takedowns.
He was presented with a picturesque trophy and certificate by Bay officials, and received further recognition at the school’s weekly Celebration Assembly on Friday, May 5.
It has been a season to remember for the pupil, who played a significant part in Rydal Penrhos’ fine victory in the Cooper Cup, while also qualifying for the Urdd National Swimming Gala in Cardiff.
Prep School head Roger McDuff, said: “Cieran continues to demonstrate his immense talent on the rugby pitch for both club and school, and this recognition is one that is richly deserved.
“He has an enormous amount of potential and if he continues to develop at his current rate then the sky is the limit in terms of what Cieran can achieve.”
