Following Pwllheli's third North Wales title in succession, head coach IDL Jones, made an emotional dedication.
At the final whistle last Saturday at Mold, as Pwllheli claimed their third successive North Wales title and the champagne bottles popped, head coach IDL Jones' thoughts were with a young lady thousands of miles away.
IDL stated: 'I dedicate this winning season and league treble to a very brave young woman, and outstanding rugby player - Jillion Potter, USA Rugby Women's Eagle and Rio Olympian. It's well documented that Jillion made a courageous and remarkable recovery from Synovial Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, to make the Rio Olympics, but sadly a couple of months ago the illness returned and Jillion's now undergoing a lengthy course of chemo, followed by surgery, in Denver'.
Ian continued: 'I coached Jillion in the early part of her career at the University Of New Mexico in Albuquerque, USA and she and some of her Eagles team mates trained with me in the Carneddau mountains prior to the London WC of 2010, making many friends in the process - Dafydd Cadwaladr, Huw Jones and his brother Richard Ogwen of Bethesda to name but three.
'Medical costs in the U.S. are enormous, and so in an effort to assist, we at Pwllheli RFC are in the process of putting together a fundraising tournament, the details of which will be announced in the next couple of weeks'.
We all join with Ian in sending our best wishes to Jillion.
