Great display of rugby by our future stars
Colwyn Bay U9s 4 – Rydal Prep U9s 4
This was a great display of rugby enjoyed by a good crowd of supporters on both sides. Colwyn Bay got off to a great start and showed determination from the outset. They were keen to put in a good performance against a Rydal side which included five regular Colwyn Bay U9 players. The Bay put Rydal under immediate pressure enabling Matthew Millband to get an early try. Rydal soon hit back with two tries before Owen Phillips showed his pace and ran the length of the pitch to score. Shortly after captain Amy Bale took her chance to score and edged Colwyn Bay ahead at half time.
Rydal came back strongly again in the second half, but the home side defended and organised themselves well. This showed how much they had improved since the two sides met in January. Charlie Austin in his first match for Colwyn Bay put on a great defensive display. Some good play between him and another of Colwyn Bay’s latest recruits, Jo Williams, gained Colwyn Bay ground from which Matthew Millband was able to score and draw the match.
Colwyn Bay U9s 3 – Rydal Prep U9s 3
The second match was played in the same competitive but very sporting manner as the first. All the Colwyn Bay players should be congratulated for their performance. The level of tackling continues to improve with every match played and attacking play benefits from better support and communication between players.
