There were a few sore heads after one or two people spent too long 'rehydrating' the night before. Report by Harry Guttridge
Day 2:
We all got up bright and early on Tuesday morning for a cooked breakfast at the Glanaber pub in Morfa Bychan. John and Chris really pulled out all the stops again and it was much appreciated. There were a few sore heads after one or two people spent too long 'rehydrating' the night before.
Robin Cablyd has embraced competitive cycling and decided to give up alcohol for the duration of the tour. He had two glasses of orange juice and was in bed by 9.30pm. He slept like a log and used his snoring technique to weaken the other riders with sleep depravation.
Unfortunately Robin's run of bad luck continued when his pedals fell off two minutes into the ride. He joined us later at Dyffryn garage with a fixed bike, where we all posed for a photo shoot for the new Mitsubishi catalog. We are extremely grateful to John of Smithy Garage for kindly donating the Mitsubishi pick up. The pick up has been invaluable for ferrying food, equipment and casualties on the trip.
We then moved on to Dolgellau rugby club, where we had a much needed buffet lunch provided by Jan's Cafe of Bala. This fueled us up for an afternoon of long hill climbs.
All in all it was a punishing day, especially the Tal y Llyn pass closely followed by the Corris hill. A few of the lads hit 48mph coming down the Corris hill and Tom Hughes touched 50mph on the way up, in the back of Hedd's pick up.
We finally arrived in Aberystwyth rugby club around 6pm to a BBQ and a warm welcome.
