Following a meeting of the Club on 12th September, the club have issued the following statement:
Clwb Rygbi Harlech
At a meeting on the 12th of September the committee felt it was crucial to dispel rumours that the club was folding.
Similar to many Welsh clubs, a weakened player base, has resulted in Harlech withdrawing from the league but they will remain a focal point for those in Ardudwy who wish to play rugby. They will continue their work within the primary schools in the area and are holding a festival of rugby at the end of October. Investigations will also be undertaken as to how the club can assist Ysgol Ardudwy in the promotion of the game at secondary school level.
Dai Higgs, the WRU’s Development Officer for Meirionnydd and Sian Williams, Gwynedd Councils Sports Development Officer were both present at the meeting and will be exploring other avenues such as the WRU’s “Game On” project, which will encourage the continuation of competitive rugby but on a “friendly” basis.
The club in its 48th season have an extremely healthy balance sheet and look forward to resuming their reputation as a welcoming but competitive side before too long.
In the meantime training will be moved to a Friday evening and will welcome teenagers to retired players. The intention is to enable all age groups to have fitness and fun through non contact rugby and maintain the social element that the club has provided in the area since the late 1960’s .
Please contact Iwan Evans, Central Garage Harlech, for more details.

I am sure that we all wish Harlech all the best for the future and look forward to a speedy return to the WRU league structure.
