As we move to week 7 does the league table have a familiar look?
Pwllheli's relentless quest to retain their title continued on Saturday with a 63-0 whitewash at previously unbeaten Bro. Bala in second place had an emphatic 74-19 win at Maes Gwyniad when they put Abergele to the sword. Nant eased to 3rd place ending Caernarfon uneaten league run with a 26-8 victory at Pant Carw. Colwyn Bay spoilt my 100% card with a good home win- 28-10 against Mold. Bethesda won again on the road, 13-8 against hapless Rhuthun. Llandudno tasted success for the first time at Meifod defeating COBRA 20-8 to move to 6th place.
A great derby battle at Llandudno when they entertain old rivals Colwyn Bay. Hold on to your seats -this could be a thriller and current form may have to be ignored. Home advantage may tip the balance.
Abergele smarting from a heavy defeat last time out at Bala host 5th place Bro who also went down heavily against Pwllheli for their first league setback this term. On form the Quarrymen should take the spoils home over the Crimea on Saturday.
A great tussle at Bethesda (7th) when they entertain old foes Nant (3rd).The visitors are playing well and will look to emulate their 26-5 win last season. The home side will make it difficult but Nant may have the all round game to get the past the winning post.
COBRA with a solitary win to their credit this season will find it difficult at 4th place Caernarfon. The Montgomeryshire outfit snatched a great 18-17 win on their last visit but this time out the Cofis may have enough in the tank to take the points.
Second place Bala travel to Mold (9th) where they won 18-10 last season. The visitors are in in a free scoring mood this term and I fancy an away win here.
Bottom club Rhuthun face an unenviable task at leaders Pwllheli's Bodegroes fortress. They lost out 29-5 in last season's fixture and I cannot see them upsetting the form book on Saturday.
In the pick of of the Div 2 East fixtures there will be a huge crowd at Maesydre for the derby clash between Welshpool (6th) and neighbours Newtown (4th). Pool are undefeated at home in the league this season, it should be a great contest.
In Div 2 West the 'match of the day' will be the encounter between league frontrunners and promotion favourites Dolgellau and Llangefni at the Marian. Dol will look to avenge their recent Cup defeat to the Islanders and get their league campaign back on track.
