I must admit that last week's results did not go well for me.
50% success -well done to Bro, Cofis and Rhuthun-I understand invitations are on their way to you from my smiling bookeeper to his Xmas party.
The big two Nant and Pwllheli remain undefeated at the top of the table whilst Colwyn Bay and Bethesda are seeking their first wins of the season. Will this weeks' fixtures provide any surprises ? - here goes my predictions for Week 4-
Caernarfon welcome Bro to the Morfa. Both sides come into this match on the back of good wins. The Cofis 28-22 at Llangefni and Bro 17-0 home success against Bethesda. Caernarfon won 67-7 in corresponding match last season but they will need to pull out all the stops to beat an improving Bro outfit. Home win.
Bethesda seeking their first W of the campaign welcome 3rd place Bala. The Quarrymen lost out at Bro last time out whilst the visitors were comfortable home winners against Dolgellau. Bala won 32-8 on their last league visit to Dol Dafydd. Expect a hard battle up front but in form Bala should bag the points.
Colwyn Bay host current champions Pwllheli at Brookfield Road. Bay have not had the best of starts losing heavily against Rhuthun at home las time out. The Lleyn men were taken to the wire at Bodegroes by Llandudno last Saturday but I cannot see them slipping up-away win.
Dolgellau entertain Mold at The Marian. Both teams lost out last weekend against strong opposition. Dol won a tight 8-5 encounter last time Mold came calling. Close call, Dolgellau could make home advantage count in a tight encounter.
Llangefni travel to Maesdu Road to face Llandudno. Last week Tudno lost out narrowly at Pwllheli in their best display of the season whilst Cefni finished strongly losing out 28-22 at home to Caernarfon. Great game in prospect, another close call -8-0 to Tudno last league encounter between these sides. The home side may have the edge.
Surprise packet Rhuthun who are playing well after an indifferent season face a tough test when they host league leaders Nant at Cae Ddol. The visitors won 41-13 last time and whilst it might be closer I go for an away win.
Div 2/3
Last week Div 2/3 clubs were involved in Round 1 WRU National Bowl - my Team Performance of The Week goes to Div 3 side Benllech who defeated Div 2 side Abergele to march to Round 2.
There was a cliffhanger at Bangor when they defeated Llangollen 18-17. Menai Bridge took Div 2 side COBRA close eventually losing 22-14.
Some great games lined up in Round 2 -to be played on 7th October- Giantkillers Benllech have another home tie against Div 2 opposition -Newtown. There is a tasty Mid Wales clash when Llanidloes visit COBRA. Pwllheli 2nds face a tough task away to Div 2 pacesetters Shotton Steel. Teirw Nant may fancy their chances at Fflint. Remaining 2 ties are Div 2 encounters Bangor host Rhyl and CRDinbych visit Wrexham.
