No pressure, but both have a fantastic opportunity to move one step closer to a date at the Principality Stadium.
WRU Plate Round 3 - 8th December, 2018
Llandudno v Blaenavon
Pwllheli v Mountain Ash
We all know what a fantastic, unbeaten, start to the season that Llandudno and Pwllheli have enjoyed, but what about their South Wales opponents, how they are performing? Let's take a look...
Blaenavon RFC play in WRU East Division One and are currently in 8th place, having played eight, winning three and losing five. They got off to a disappointing start, losing their first four league games before embarking on a three game winning run:
A v Pentypool United - Lost 39-7
H v Brecon - Lost 8-22
A v Nelson - Lost 59-29
A v Penallta - Lost 26-7
H v Caerleon - Won 41-14
A v Hartridge - Won 8-26
H v Dowlais - Won 28-12
A v Risca - Lost 24-11
Mountain Ash play in WRU East Central Division One and are currently in sixth position, having won four of their opening nine league games:
H v Llantrisant - Won 32-17
A v Rhiwbina - Lost 38-15
H v St Josephs - W 36-18
A v Dinas Powis - Lost 9-7
H v Gilfach Goch - W 21-20
A v Bridgend Athletic - Lost 23-20
H v Glamorgan Wanderers - W 27-26
A v Rumney - Lost 16-15
H v Treorchy - Lost 8-37
Pwllheli supporters may well have noticed that 'Ash' have lost all of their away games this season and will be hoping that run continues!
So, there we have it, two sides heading to North Wales, both steeped in history and tradition. Only one thing you can be sure of though, is that when it's 15 v 15 and the first whistle is blown on both the pitches of Llandudno RFC and Pwllheli RFC, history will count for nothing as the home sides seek to create some history of their own.
We wish them both well.
