O’r ail ddechrau, enillwyd y bêl gan flaenwyr y tîm cartref a gwelwyd cai jones a’r ddau ganolwr yn gwefreiddio amddiffyn Caernarfon trwy basio deheuig agos ar onglau ac yn gorffen trwy’r rhif 13, Aeron Jones, dirio o dan y pyst. Cynhelir gêm nesaf y tîm gartref yn erbyn Dolgellau ar ddydd Sadwrn 31ain Ionawr 2015 yn Adran 1 Cynghrair y Gogledd.
Similar to last Saturday’s SWALEC Plate match at Pontypool United, this match appeared to be won at half time when four tries [and a bonus point] had been scored by Nant Conwy.
But, it was Caernarfon who scored first after 8 minutes play. Kelvin Morris failed with a penalty attempt but the ball bounced back into the field of play and was gladly gathered by Mac jones to enable him to score a try. Kelvin Morris duly converted this try. Nant’s Sion pringle reacted to this score almost immediately when he danced his way through three missed tackles to touch down in the left hand corner.
After 18 minutes play, the young scrum half, Cai Jones, broke beautifully and gave a reverse pass for captain, Carwyn Ellis to add to his collection of tries. Delwyn Jones duly converted. Kelvin Morris reduced the arrears to 12 – 10 after 27 minutes when he converted a penalty kick. Half an hour’s play had elapsed when tight head prop, Robin Glyn, shoved his opponents from his way to touch down by the posts. Delwyn Jones extended the lead by a further two points.
From the re-start, the crowd saw the ‘move of the match’. Cai Jones and the two Centres mesmerised the visiting defence with a series of short passes at appropriate angles – a move that ended with Aeron Jones touching down under the posts. An easy conversion for Delwyn Jones to give a 26 – 10 score at half time.
Nant Conwy’s fifth try arrived after 13 minutes when another effective ruck by the scoring line saw Carwyn Ellis pick the ball up from the base and passed to the blind side for Hooker, Eryl Jones to touch down in the right corner for an unconverted try. Things became quieter after this before Caernarfon scored a consolation try after 37 minutes when Rhobart Williams touched down and replacement kicker, Aled Jones added the extra points to give a final score of 31 – 17.
Nant’s next match will be a Division 1 North match home against Dolgellau on Saturday, 31st January 2015.

Dolgellau 18 v 23 Denbigh
The relegation battle has been blown wide open with this most narrow of victories for visiting Denbigh on the Marian in this frantic encounter, where the lead changes hands four times, and who are now only two points behind Dolgellau in what promises to be a nail biting run in, as they also have a game in hand.
Dolgellau will be disappointed with their overall performance, but take nothing away from Denbigh side who took all their opportunities to score with precision, and ran out deserved victors.
Dolgellau eased ahead as Denbigh were put under pressure in the set scrums, with a penalty to skipper, Gerwyn Thomas after 10 minutes play. Denbigh scored on their first appearance deep in Dolgellau territory, where a quickly taken tap penalty saw no8 Dan Jones score in the corner to make it 3-5 after twenty minutes play. Only 4 minutes later they went further ahead with a peach of a try as centre Matt Hulse broke free to release his outside centre Tom Seddon to score near the posts. Scrum half Garin Roberts converted and Denbigh were 3-12 ahead.
A blatant yellow card for Denbigh at forward saw Thomas slot over his second penalty of the afternoon to bring Dolgellau back into the game with half hour gone. Two minutes later Dolgellau scored a peach of a try themselves, following a surge by flanker Guto Jones, the ball was released quickly to centre Jac Roberts, who out-manouvered smartly around the cover defence to sprint over. Thomas put over the conversion and Dolgellau were back in business with a one point lead. However the lead was short lived, as on the stroke of half time, Denbigh, in only their third full attack, carved an opening for the ever menacing wing Aiden Jones to sprint down the left touchline to score. 13-17 at the interval.
Dolgellau had all the possession early in the second half, but had to wait 20 minutes to re-take the lead when finally, after several forward drives, led by substitute Berwyn Hughes, prop Huw Emyr Jones found his fellow prop, Greg Smithies on the blind to go over for the score.
At 18-17 with a quarter to go, it was finally balanced, and it was the visitors who grabbed the initiative, aided with some poor decision making by the home side, and re-gained the lead with a penalty to scrum half, Roberts with 9 minutes remaining. With only 6 minutes remaining they took their lead to five points with Roberts’ second penalty, after Dolgellau had infringed at a ruck whilst trying to run the ball from deep.
Dolgellau threw everything at Denbigh during a tense final 5 minutes, but the visitors held grimly on to their lead and Dolgellau had to settle for a losing bonus point.
Their second XV fared better as they defeated Denbigh 2nd Xv by 24 points to 12, with John Lloyd,Jamie King and Gerwyn Pugh scoring tries and Gethin Jones adding two conversions.
RGC 58 v Llanharan 6 - match report
Following report kindly supplied by Scott Lawson, RGC News
RGC put in a big 2nd half performance to pick up another impressive victory against Llanharan.
The Gogs ran in 8 tries after half time in front of another entertained Eirias crowd.
The opening 20 minutes was a frustrating one for all involved in RGC, passes were going astray, balls were being knocked on at opportune moments, with at least 3 tries spurned when the chance was on. This gave the visitors a chance to take the lead through the boot of Rhys Morgan.
The backline were making breaks, Tom Blackwell and Harri Evans looking impressive with the ball in hand. Llanharan had a chance to score when winger Harry Davies picked up a loose pass out was held up on the line.
It was the Gogs the claimed the first try when the impressive Afon Bagshaw went over the line and James Lang hit the extras.
Bagshaw made another big break but was tackled short of the line.
The boot of James Lang extended the lead as half time approached with a penalty.
After the half time whistle RGC looked a different side, with 2 early scores from Andy Williams and Tiaan Loots, with another Lang conversion.
Rhys Morgan claimed another penalty for the visitors, but Gogs were making dangerous runs and pushing for the bonus point.
Try number 4 came from Cam Davies and the scrum half then made a big break before offloading to substitute Shaun O’ Rourke who scored with his first touch of the ball. I think it was an RGC record to score after being on the pitch for only 30 seconds.
RGC were breaking the gaineline time and time again, and unlike the first half, the players had the composure to move the ball at the correct moments. Harri Evans was next up with a brace of tries as he outpaced the Llanharan defence.
Afon Bagshaw was putting in a big performance, and his ability to take the ball and run at the defence was of the highest standard today. In a world of statistics and analysis the RGC fullback must have had impressive results in breaks, or in supporters terms “he put a big shift in”.
It was proving a tough end to the game for the visitors and it didn’t get any better when Lewis Barker came on as a replacement. He lit up the Eirias pitch with some good footwork and fellow sub Andy Baston got a try after nice skills from Barker. Lang hit his 5th conversion of the game.
The final score was from Tom Blackwell, the winger has been in good try scoring form over the past few games and he continued that scoring form with one on the final whistle.
It was another big scoring game for RGC with 9 tries to send the crowd home happy.
RGC Coach Phil Davies took delight with the 2nd half especially “I am really pleased with the performance. 1st half we had the intent to play rugby but it we made errors, we lost control in vital situations – our rucking and when we had possession. When we got in at half time we talked about our attack, the break down, control and the speed of the ball when we had possession. We had good handling and we also defended well. To score 48 points in the 2nd half just showed what a strong performances it was.”
Pwllheli 45 v Llandudno 13
Llandudno travelled to Parc Bodegroes having beaten the home side Pwllheli at home in September last year, however the home side since that defeat, had not lost a match.
Llan started the better, taking play for the early period to the home side, and took the lead with a converted penalty by Tom Hocknell.
Pwll however came back strongly, and it was the pace of their back division that was to settle the outcome of the match. Most of the attacks started from within there own half, and they opened there scoring with such a movement, with centre Dan Brunelli touching down for a converted try by Osian Jones.
Llan had chances to gain points, but the home side rush defence caused them to make handling errors resulting in ball turn overs putting them on the back foot.
Pwll now began to dictate, cutting through the Llan defence with the pace of there centres and wingers, building up a half time score, with three more tries one by Tom Parry and two by John Pugh, Osian Jones converting one of them.
The second half continued with Pwll causing Llan problems with there pace ,and added to this, any misplaced defensive kicks were run out of their own half taking play well into the Llan half with this constant pressure they secured a match winning margin with further tries by Eifion Roberts and two more touchdowns by John Pugh, two of which Osian Jones converted.
Llan did during this half managed to score two unconverted tries, both by winger Sam McKean.
The overall opinion was that on the day we were beaten by a better side, and Pwllheli to their credit look as if they could be strong contenders the win Division One North.
