A round up of reports from games involving the clubs of North and Mid Wales.
Llandudno 15 v Pwllheli 17 - match report
Following report kindly supplied by Llandudno RFC.
The Goats winning run was brought to an end at Maesdu Road by the visitors, but on reflection they should have won it having built up a strong half time lead of ten points.
They had the better share of this first half, and created a number of try scoring opportunities, but failed short just short of the Pwll try line to touch down. It was after they had put Pwll defence under some pressure, that they were awarded a penalty try after a Pwll player had illegally used his hand to intercept a try scoring pass, and just before the half time whistle that won a penalty in front of the posts which Ryan Pike converted, giving them a ten points to nil lead which they justly deserved.
The start of the second period of play saw Pwll come out of the starting blocks with more purpose, and it was from the restart they John Pugh touch down for a try which Osian Jones converted. The match now was in the balance as to who would win it,and it was Pwll that took the lead for the first time with a Matthew Parry try with Osian Jones adding two more points from the conversion, and also adding three more points with a penalty conversion.
The match now was for the Goats to win with very little time left to play, and this they did when they took play from within there own half right up to the Pwll try line which was crossed by Lewis Jones for a unconverted try. They continued to press for the match winning points, and were awarded a number of penalties which they were unable to convert, which would have given them a notable home win.

Bethesda 18 v Ruthin 5 - match report
Following report and picture kindly supplied by John Palmer, Ruthin RFC.
Ruthin and Bethesda battled out their last game of the season on a beautiful day at Bethesda on Saturday.
Ruthin depleted by injuries to players in the last few games fielded a number of players making their debut for the 1st team including the Lloyd Jones brothers on permit from Llangollen and ex- youth Cameron Miller with the bench bolstered by veteran Sam Higgitt.
The only score in the first half was a penalty goal by Bethesda’s full back Gethin Long after 7 minutes.
Defences were in the ascendancy and for Ruthin the game followed the pattern of the last few games with good possession and plenty of time in the opposition 22 but an inability to convert the pressure into points.
Bethesda’s backs however always looked dangerous but were contained by the Blues defence in the first half.
The home side started the second half with some urgency and were moving the ball about well.
After a few minutes Long ran through the visitors defence for a try which he converted. Ruthin went back on the attack and Pesda had to withstand concerted pressure for some while before the ball was cleared and the Blues had nothing for their effort.
Back in their own half it was Ruthin’s turn to defend but they went further behind with a drop goal from fly half Carwyn Williams.
Again the Blues went on the attack and after some good phase play full back Josh Wilson got 5 points on the board with an unconverted try.
The reduced margin was not to last however as Long again forced his way through the Blues defence for an unconverted try shortly before the 80 minutes were up and the game finished with Bethesda winning 18-5.
Dolgellau 49 v Colwyn Bay 3
Following report kindly supplied by Dolgellau RFC.
At the end of the day, the result was rendered meaningless, with Bro Ffestiniog victory against Llangefni, that means both Dolgellau and Colwyn bay will be facing each other in the 2nd Division next season.
On a glorious afternoon, the visitors started brightly, and came close to scoring from the kick-off. However they did succeed in taking the lead after three minutes, as stand-off, Henry Morris put over a penalty. It did not take long for Dolgellau to respond, when centre Henri Roberts, went over wide on the left for a try that de duly converted from a difficult angle to make the score 7-3.
Going into second quarter, Dolgellau flanker Rob Lewis started and finished a move with the assistance of second row Carwyn Hughes. Again Henri Roberts was accurate with the extra points to make it 14-3. In the last minute of the half, from quickly taken tap penalty by scrum half Lewis Jones, hooker, Eon Williams forced his way over in the right corner flag. Henri Roberts put over the conversion from the touchline to give Dolgellau a 21-3 halftime lead.
Stalwart no.8, Dylan Llewelyn crossed for Dolgellau’s fourth try after six minutes to make it 28-3 with Roberts’ fourth conversion. Colwyn Bay made life difficult, with flanker, Harry Jones outstanding, but Dolgellau rammed home their superiority with two well taken opportunist scores to scrum half, Lewis Jones, both from scrums, and with the assistance of no.8 Dylan Llewelyn. Henri Roberts kept up his 100% with the boot by converting both tries.
But the best was kept to last, as Dolgellau ran from deep with second row, Marius Jones and hooker Eon Williams finding no.8 Dylan Llewelyn to finish off the move in style. Roberts’ perfect record and seventh conversion taking Dolgellau to 49-3.
The match was sponsored by players from Aberystwyth RFC, in memory of Aled Evans, who played for both clubs, to mark the 10th Anniversary of his passing, and the proceeds from match collections will go towards the North Wales Air Ambulance, and the sizable crowd was boosted by representation from Aber RFC as well as family and friends of Aled, to make it a memorable occasion.
