Rhyl Junior Section rugby round up; 14/04/2014
Under 9’s
Rhyl Under 9’s travelled to Mold only to find themselves trailing the talented home side early on in the first half. In the second half Rhyl found their feet and starting playing to the space which allowed Joseph Mckenna, Owain Espley, and Airan Semple(3) to to touch down and get Rhyl back into the game. With a couple of interceptions by Airan Semple and Roman Hodgson they to just managed to beat a very good Mold team in game that was very much end to end rugby with some fantastic skills on show from both teams. Final score 4-6 to Rhyl
Under 11’s
U11s drew 21-21 with Llangefni in an exciting game between two sides match which matched each other in all parts of the field. Try scorers for Rhyl where Thomas Harrison (2) and Christian Hone, with all tries converted by Callum Gardner. Man of the match was Kai Bedaman and some outstanding play from Captain Owen Reece Jones.

Abergele Rugby Club Juniors under 7's & 8's - final game of the season
Abergele under 8's v Bangor under 8's
Hanani Hanyane captained and led from the front a much improved Abergele side with Rhian Williams, Cian Evans and Evan Gueli showing good footwork, pace and growing confidence. Jack Jones and Jensen Camm, stepping up an age group showed talent and caused havoc every time they got their hands on the ball.
Harry Fardoe also had an excellent game but a special mention must go to Gwenllian Hughes who looked like scoring every time she touched the ball.
Final score 9 - 9. Scorers: Jensen Camm 4, Gwenllian Hughes 4, Jack Jones 1
Abergele under 7’s & 8’S V Bethesda under 8’s
As neither Bangor or Bethesda were able to bring full under 7's sides it was decided to play our under 7's, with a couple of our under 8's against the Bethesda under 8's. Our young stars had a good go at beating a very well drilled Bethesda side with Ryan Bedford, Harry Gilmore, Jack Jones, Alfie and Freddie Banning, and Jensen Camm all showing that the future is bright within this age group.
Again, Hanani Hanyane lead by example defensively with Gwenllian Hughes and Rhian Williams making ground every time they got the ball whilst having the presence of mind to bring the younger players into play. The youngest two, Will Hewitt and Dylan Williams played well and Cynan Griffiths, Elin Thomas, Cari Evans, Morgan Olte and Owen Bradburn gave an excellent account of themselves when they came on as substitutes.
It was obvious that they all enjoyed themselves and it was a very pleasing end to our season, boding well for the future of our little green army.
Final score: 6 - 12. Scorers: Gwenllian Hughes 2, Alfie Banning 2, Jensen Camm 1, Rhian Williams 1.
