Rhys Williams included in the Wales Under-16 squad
When last week the Welsh Under 16 squad was announced it contained within it the name of Rhys Williams of Mold. Rhys who played a couple of games for the North Wales Under 16 squad last year as an Under 15 was one of the stand-out players for this years North Wales squad in last Autumn's regional age-grade championship. He follows in the footsteps of George North and Arron Evans both of whom were capped at Under 16 level in recent years after having played for North Wales. His selection also means that Mold Rugby Club currently have current or past players in all 4 national sides with Rob McCusker playing in the senior side,James King in the Under 20s and Alex Schwarz in the Under 18s.
Whilst Rhys' selection will mean him travelling to South Wales on a regular basis in the next few months to take part in training sessions he will have the opportunity to play closer to home with the Welsh Under 16s being scheduled to play Italy Under 17s at Eirias Parc, Colwyn Bay, on Saturday 16th April before facing the North Wales Under 17 side again at Eirias Parc on 19th April.'
