Llandudno 31 v Llangefni 17
Following match report kindly supplied by Llandudno RFC.
Llan completed a season double win at Maesdu Road against Gefni, after the game had been requested by the Police to be at Llandudno and not Llangefni, due to a Far Right Protest Rally in the town.
Llan were subjected to early pressure by Gefni who took an early lead from a converted penalty by Rees Hughes and a try by Dylan Griffiths, which Rees Hughes also converted.
Llan settled down and began to put there game together as a unit. The laid siege to the visitors try line, with Elliot Crowe taking on the defence and off loading to Lewis Griffith for a converted touch down by Ryan Pike. Next to score was winger George Thomas who crossed the try line after a penetrating movement by the back line, with Ryan Pike converted.
A driving from a line saw prop Mike Williams touch down, which Ryan Pike converted to finish the first, giving them a lead of twenty one points to ten.
Llan took control of most of the second half with former Captain Kelvin Davies touching down near the posts, giving Ryan Pike an easy conversion, and it was the latter who with another penalty seemed to seal the home win with only quarter of play left, but as they have failed to do in a number of games this season, they did not keep possession of the ball in order to close the game down, and this allowed Gefni to come back strongly against them, scoring a try by there centre Dylan Griffith which Rees Hughes converted.
However they did manage to hang on to their lead till the final whistle to gain maximum points, much to the relief of the coaches and home supporters.
Touch Line Comment. We need to establish a decision maker on the field in order to close games down.
Next Saturday at home to Pwllheli KO 2.30.

Two Carwyn Ellis Tries Secure The Win For Nant.
Two fine tries by number eight Carwyn Ellis secured the away win for Nant at Abergele on a very blustery and wintry afternoon at Pentre Mawr.
As expected it was the home team that did most of the attacking in the first few minutes of the game, but to no avail. However, after thirteen minutes the referee awarded Abergele a penalty for a high tackle which number ten, Owain Davies kicked successfully to put the home team in the lead. Another high tackle offence was committed, this time by the home team, after twenty five minutes - a successful kick by Delwyn Jones bringing the score level.
With thirty four minutes played, Nant were adjudged to have committed an offence in the scrum, which led to Owain Davies putting the home team in the lead once again. With a minute of the first half left, following a forceful Nant attack, Carwyn Ellis crossed the line for the first try of the match, putting Nant ahead by eight points to six at the interval.
Thirty seconds into the second half saw Delwyn Jones successfully converted a penalty kick to put Nant further ahead. The home side’s response was to launch a number of forward attacks in the opposition half which were repelled by the resolute Nant defence. A decision to yellow card a player from Nant Conwy, followed by a penalty try and successful conversion, put Abergele ahead once again.
Showing great team spirit and determination and perhaps a sense of injustice, with a man down, Nant launched a series of penetrating attacks in the Abergele half which culminated in Carwyn Ellis scoring a try for the second time in the match. With six minutes remaining Delwyn Jones put the game beyond reach with a well judged penalty kick.

Ruthin 12 v Caernarfon 13 - the Caernarfon match report
Following report kindly supplied by Caernarfon RFC.
These two very evenly matched sides kept the crowd entertained and on tenterhooks throughout the whole eighty minutes.
Caernarfon just about deserved their victory in view of the fact that they had the greater share of territory, especially during the tense second half.
The Cofis had the best possible start, gaining valuable ground following a rolling maul and when a clearance kick fell to winger Iolo Hughes on the ten meter line he set off at blistering pace through the bemused Rhuthun rearguard to score a classic solo effort with only three minutes played. Aled Jones slotted the accompanying conversion.
Another foray resulted in an interception that saw Rhuthun counter attack swiftly and on gaining a foothold in the danger zone for the first time they made pressure count when a quickly taken penalty caught the Cofis unaware and allowed Chris Davies’s strong charge to cross the whitewash. Deian Williams’s conversion effort rebounded off the crossbar with ten minutes on the clock.
Both defence coaches could be proud of the resolve shown as the play ebbed and flowed but the penalty count was higher than expected.
Aled Jones capitalised on one such transgression to extend Caernarfon’s lead to five points mid way through the half but Rhuthun then enjoyed an extended purple patch and asked questions of the Cofi defence constantly.
Winger Josh Wilson was incisive and elusive with scrumhalf Deian Williams snapping at the heels of the workmanlike pack to steer them ever closer to the try line.
They were finally rewarded when a lineout take and drive saw the very impressive Chris Davies score his second touchdown amid the advancing pack. Williams added the conversion to edge Rhuthun ahead for the first time but other penalty efforts drifted wide of the mark meaning that halftime arrived with the Cofis relieved to still be within two points.
Caernarfon’s smaller in stature players may have been expected to struggle during the second half but we witnessed a fully committed and courageous performance from the maroon brigade from the off. Such heroics meant that play was contained in the Rhuthun half for most of the first thirty minutes.
Liam Leung and Rhys Evans were instrumental in keeping the Cofis on the front foot with winger Dylan Gwyn nearly breaking clear on a few occasions. However a few wrong options meant that the Rhuthun try line was not unduly threatened despite the abundance of possession retained.
With a quarter of an hour to play Caernarfon opted for a kickable penalty and Aled Jones gave the Cofis the slenderest of leads as the ball bisected the posts.
The numerous substitutes used by both teams fitted in well and were able to adjust to the pace of the game straightaway. As the minutes ticked away Rhuthun finally found themselves in the Cofi half with robust centre Emyr Gwynedd’s charges having to be contained.
Resolute defence and discipline in the tackle area under the guidance of Gwilym Jones was paramount to ensure that Rhuthun were not afforded a penalty shot and when their one drop goal effort failed Caernarfon were able to retain the ball up until the final whistle to ensure a hard fought, rewarding triumph.
