On a breezy, dry but cold evening, Nant began another match in a serious mood scoring two converted tries in the first six minutes. Delwyn used his strength to power over undernreath the sticks and converted his own try before, a few minutes later, he kicked powerfully down to the left han side and young winger, Carwyn outpaced everyone to touch down in the corner..
Ruthin’s first real attack resulted in a try by Tom, converted by Nathan. The home players will really rue the three missed tackles before that score. Nant’s forwards took up the gauntlet and Ifan, the hooker plundered his way over for the third try after 19 minutes.
During the second quarter of the match, Ruthin came into the match but, after 33 minutes, the move of the match was completed with a try off full back, Sion, when he completed a seven man passing movement between the backs. Delwyn converted this ‘bonus point’ try as he did with the fifth ‘home’ try when scrum half, Cai, broke the visitors’ defensive line. This gave a 33 – 7 half time score.
If somebody had arrived at the ground at the interval and watched the second half only, he / she would be quite right perhaps in assuming that the ‘blues’ were the side that were ahead. Nant tackled ferociously throughout the half and only let in the visitors in once when left winger, Ryan evaded a tackle and sped to touch down in the corner.
Nant continued with some silly errors as the wind increased in strength and all substitutes being given an opportunity to gain time on the pitch. But, the last score arrived from Nant when Ifan took a beautiful pass from Captain, Carwyn to touch down in the right hand corner. Thus, a final score of 38 -12.
This was the second match in succession that Nant had different try scorers – 6 scorers tonight and eight last Saturday!
Ar noson sych ond oer gyda chryn dipyn o awel, gwelwyd Nant yn dechrau gêm arall ar dân gan sgorio dau gais yn y munudau cyntaf. Delwyn yn defnyddio’i gryfder i sgorio cais dan y pyst cyn ei drosi ei hun. Yna, cic uchel i’r gornel a’r asgellwr ifanc, Carwyn, yn ennill y ras i dirio’r bêl a Delwyn yn trosi eto. Ymosodiad cyntaf Rhuthun â thair tacl yn cael eu methu yn caniatau Tom i sgorio cais a droswyd gan Nanthan. Daeth blaenwyr Nant yn ôl i’r gêm a gwelwyd y bachwr, Ifan yn plymio trosodd wedi 19 munud. I fod yn deg, daeth yr ymwelwyr i mewn i’r gêm fwy yn dilyn hyn ond gwelwyd symudiad y gêm wedi 33 munud pan sgoriodd Sion y cefnwr, gais wedi pasio chyflym a chywir gan yr holl gefnwyr. Cyrhaeddodd y pumed cais tros Nant fymryn cyn yr hanner wrth i Cai, yr hannerwr, fylchu trwy’r amddiffyn i dirio. Sgôr o 33 – 7 ar yr hanner felly.
Patae rhywun wedi cyrraedd i wylio ar yr hanner, buasai o’r farn mai Rhuthun oedd tîm gorau’r ail hanner. Llawer iawn o ymosod ganndynt ond heb lwyddo i dorri’r amddiffyn tan y 23ain munud lle y llwyddodd yr asgellwr, Ryan, osgoi tacl a charlamu i’r gornel i dirio. Nant yn parhau i wneud camgyneriadau bychan wrth i’r awel godi a rhoi cyfle i’r holl eilyddion and hwy gafodd y sgôr olaf drwy Ifan P fod wrth law i sgorio wedi derbyn pas gelfydd gan Carwyn, y Capten. Sgôr derfynol o 38 – 12 felly.
Dyma’r ail gêm yn olynol lle y cafwyd sgorwyr gwahanol i bob cais – wyth ohonynt ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf a chwech heno!
