NWRU Chairman Dai Davies, reports that a statement regarding the future plans for RGC1404 is likely to be published in tne next couple of days
Despite swingeing criticism from the 'Sunday national of Wales' newspaper about sport in general in North Wales, Dai Davies, pictured, Chairman of the North Wales Rugby Union Council, has asked that the rugby fraternity in North Wales wait just a couple of days more before an announcement is made about the RGC1404 team for season 2011-12.
Speaking exclusively to this web-site, Dai said: 'I don't usually pay much attention to the columns of newspaper reporters, sitting in the comfort of their armchairs in South Wales - but I suppose he does have a point - it really is up to all of us in North Wales Rugby to ensure that the RGC1404 "project" does not fail.
What does he suggest happens to the funds being invested, share it out amongst the South Wales clubs, National and Premier, so they can pay their players and/or import foreign ones? - we've seen where that leads Welsh Rugby!.
We have been working hard with the WRU, our governing body, to get a system in place that gives the rugby union players of North Wales, both senior and junior, the chance to progress to the highest level and, if it means waiting a few more days to tell the world what the plans are, I'm sure they will understand'.
Once the statement has been issued, it is hoped that a full interview with Dai will appear on this web-site.

Sport in North Wales came under attack from the Wales on Sunday yesterday
The main bulk of the article was about the downfall of the Crusaders Rugby League team but the report ended as follows:
'For all the optimistic noises about interest in rugby in the North from good attendances for Wales age-group union games and for the odd time when the senior team has played up there, I see little evidence that North Wales sports fans give a damn about anything other than Liverpool, Everton and Manchester United.
There's not even enough passion about Wrexham FC to prevent it becoming embroiled in a desperate struggle for its very existence.
That's why the Welsh Rugby Union needs to think long and hard about pursuing its experiment with the RGC 1404 side.
I mean, how many North Walians have the remotest idea about how that's progressing? RGC 1404? There's more interest in Kronenberg 1664.
So before the WRU go ploughing money into trying to establish a possible fifth region through philanthropic tie-ups with Canadian players, they might ask themselves could the cash be better spent elsewhere.
For North Wales is fast-turning in to a graveyard for major professional sporting teams. And it's sad.'
