The North Wales Under 17 development squad face a stiff challenge next Tuesday evening when they play the Wales Under 16 team at Eirias Parc,Colwyn Bay. KO 7.30pm. The Welsh 16s are staying at Rydal School in Colwyn Bay as they prepare to play their English counterparts at Fylde RFC a week on Sunday and as well as playing the North Wales 17s will also be playing Italy Under 17s at Eirias Parc on Saturday. Contained within the Wales Under 16 squad are 3 North Walians, Luke Williams (Mold), Rhys Williams (Mold) and Callum Mitchell (Colwyn Bay) pictured. Spectators are more than welcome on Tuiesday evening and admission prices are £2 for adults and a £1 for children.
Marc Roberts, WRU Performance Coac (pictured) said: "I am really pleased for these three players and it's great to see Callum in the starting line up especially as he has accepted the North Wales academy contract and will remain in the region developing his technical, tactical, physical and mental skills through the North Wales academy program.
To have three players in the final U16s squad is testament if indeed one was needed to the quality of Players that we can produce in the North. It's also especially pleasing to get the news regarding U16s squad in the same week that Alex Schwarz (WRU North Wales academy) gained his first Wales U18s cap against Scotland in Wales victory on Sunday"
