Held at Colwyn Bay RFC on 6th July 2011 starting at 2015.
Members Present: See attached attendance sheet.
Apologies: As per AGM
Minutes of meeting held February 2011 and March 2011, highlighted for discussion at this meeting:-
a. Leagues should go ahead without Regional Players. Fewer gaps in Fixture List, as gaps are causing players to leave the game. The need for continuity.
b. An under 18 Development squad will run Sept – Christmas, 1 game per month on Wednesday evenings, keeping squad as wide as possible and catering for late developers
1. League Format:
Last season the Leagues started on a 10 and 10 format, but due to the withdrawal of teams, at the start and then during the season, caused an imbalance of numbers in each league, this combined with the terrible weather caused a number of postponements, but resulted in Pwllheli heading the second division, followed by Bangor, but Llandudno also sought promotion to Division 1.
A full discussion followed with a commitment from 22 clubs to participate in the League, these being Ruthin, Wrexham, Mold, Rhyl, Cobra, Colwyn Bay, Caernafon, Denbigh, Llangefni, Bala, Pwllheli, Bangor, Llanidloes, Newtown,Llandudno, Welshpool, Abergele, Flint, Nant Conwy, Bro Ffestiniog, Machynlleth and Bethesda.
The possibilities were two leagues of eleven, one of twelve and one of ten, or one of ten and a second of twelve. Proposals were made for all three possible leagues but the meeting decided that a First Division of Ten clubs and a second Division of Twelve clubs.
Pwllheli as winners of last seasons Division 2 would be promoted to Division One and Bala would play in Division 2.
It was also agreed that the format for promotion and demotion would be one team up and one team down, as per league positions.
2. Will Morecombe reported on the RGC Academy.
He clarified that the 1st of September would be the qualifying birth date of each age group,
Under 16 on 1/9/ of each year would play in Under 16 group and Under 18 on 1/9 of each year would play in that group.
An Under 18 Development Squad was being formed the Team Administrator being Austin Thomas, Coached by Alan James with Ian Kyffin and Hayden Williams assisting, currently have 23 or 24 boys, clubs are asked to nominate any player who have not been involved in the RGC squads. They will train at Llandudno every Wednesday, and play one game a month on a Wednesday.
