Veteran Rhyl prop, Phil Blakoe, has complained to the Independent Press Complaints Commission after a report on the North Wales Rugby web-site following Saturday's game between Bala 2nds and Rhyl 2nds.
Phil has taken issue with the following part of the report:
'Rhyl made it clear though that they hadn’t come to lose and fought back hard in the opening quarter of the second half. Their 60 year old prop wrestled like a bear all day with the Bala front row, forcing Ynyr Tyn Coed to come off with a slipped disk and bending replacement prop Robin Cablyd into some unusual positions'.
He stated: 'I don't mind being compared to a bear but to say that I'm 60 is just not on, I'm only 59!'
Some of you may remember Phil being interviewed in Denbigh by Rick O'Shea on Scrum V nine years ago, Phil being 50 at the time.
As you can imagine, Phil has taken all this in good spirit and it's great to see a bit of humour in the game for a change.
A big thank you also to Harry at Bala who supplied the match report, can't wait until the next one.
