Dion returns North
Dion Jones is another player known to many as the full back is a former RGC Academy player who headed south to play for Llanelli and Carmarthen Quins. The 23 year old from Llanrwst will settle in after playing with Joe Simpson, Harri Evans, Maredydd Francis and Afton Bagshaw in his Academy years. He also has played at Eirias for the Wales U20s..
Head Coach Mark Jones believes the new additions will add plenty to a squad that delivered a play-off finish and a cup win last season
“Number 8 was key area for recruitment, as last season Huw Worthington played a huge amount of games, so Alex Taylor comes in via the Welsh Exiles programme and has a good pedigree playing in the ITM Cup and adds quality. "
"Dion was looking to come back home, so we offered him the rugby option and he was keen to join up. Dion offers that cover at fullback, and also gives competition to Afon who was our only fullback last season”.
General Manager Sion Jones is not only looking to build on the on field success of last season but also across the North Wales Region “After such a positive and successful 2016/17, we are delighted to have secured the services of Head Coach Mark Jones and Assistant Coach Phil John for the upcoming season. There is still much to do, both on and off the field, in particular we still have much to do in developing and supporting the North Wales Rugby Region so working with clubs and communities from across the region is going to be a priority for us over the 2017/18 season”
