Sport in North Wales came under attack from the Wales on Sunday yesterday - please have a read and leave your comments
The main bulk of the article was about the downfall of the Crusaders Rugby League team but the report ended as follows:
'For all the optimistic noises about interest in rugby in the North from good attendances for Wales age-group union games and for the odd time when the senior team has played up there, I see little evidence that North Wales sports fans give a damn about anything other than Liverpool, Everton and Manchester United.
There's not even enough passion about Wrexham FC to prevent it becoming embroiled in a desperate struggle for its very existence.
That's why the Welsh Rugby Union needs to think long and hard about pursuing its experiment with the RGC 1404 side.
I mean, how many North Walians have the remotest idea about how that's progressing? RGC 1404? There's more interest in Kronenberg 1664.
So before the WRU go ploughing money into trying to establish a possible fifth region through philanthropic tie-ups with Canadian players, they might ask themselves could the cash be better spent elsewhere.
For North Wales is fast-turning in to a graveyard for major professional sporting teams. And it's sad.'
Report taken from 'Straight Talking by Delme Parfitt' - so, is it a kick in the teeth for all the hard-working sportsmen and women in North Wales or is there some truth in what he says?
