Dr Chris Williams, one of the Trustees, is planning a sponsored bike ride from John O'Groats to Lands End - all proceeds to the Trust
The Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust was set up in 1972 by the Welsh Rugby Union with the principal aim of providing care and assistance to those players who suffered serious injury whilst playing rugby football in Wales. It is sad to note that there are currently twenty former players who are permanenty confined to wheelchairs as a result of accidents on the field of play.
The Trust has, over the years, provided cars, wheelchairs, both electric and manual, hoists, adaptations to dwelling places, scholarships and, in fact, anything that can make the lives of injured players more comfortable.
In the current economic climate, costs are rising all the time and trustees are always seeking new sources of revenue in order to be able to provide what is needed by injured players. One of the Trustees, Dr Chris Williams, is planning a sponsored bicycle ride from John O'Groats to Lands End and has agreed to donate all the sponsorship to the Trust.
It would be much appreciated by trustees and injured players alike if your club or individuals could sponsor Dr Chris or make a one-off contribution to the Trust in respect of his considerable efforts.
Yours sincerely,
Edward Jones
