Tim Hoare, WRU North Wales Coach Development Manager gives an update of Pathway Laws to North Wales Junior Association AGM
Tim gave the following report to the North Wales Junior Association meeting at Denbigh last night (1st June)
- A National Review is nearing completing on the new laws introduced for the 2010-2011 season. All North Wales feedback received over the course of the season, whether on review forms or by email has been submitted and included in the review. Consideration has been given to all suggestions and recommendations made. This has included playing and refereeing areas;
- Feedback has been generally positive and it is felt that there is an easier transition between age groups and key learning points which focus on development of players;
- At Under 11, the following are some of the statistics found:
Time taken for a ruck has halved
Offloads have increased by 40%
Number of passes per phase increased
Ball in play 80% of time as opposed to 52%
- A video, confirming the above statistics, has been recommended to assist with clarification and implementation;
- There will be a roll out programme from July. This will include Presentations/Workshops across North Wales as per last year with full details of review and statistics and confirmation on all pathway laws and interpretatation. Details will follow as soon as any amendments are completed;
- Do not anticipate massive changes to be made from the current laws introduced for 2010-11;
- ALL clubs will be expected to adhere to the WRU Pathway Laws and any club doing otherwise will be subject to severe sanctions (which may include loss of part of the grant aid from the WRU).
