An Easter Saturday try-fest on the Marian with the visitors seemingly out of sight with a 0-22 lead, but Dolgellau finally finding their rhythm and clawing their way back with three tries in the last fifteen minutes to claim what could be a priceless bonus point.
Llangefni stand-off Andrew McMinimee put over a penalty after twelve minutes and five minutes later won a kick and chase to touchdown, and duly added the conversion to make it 0-12. Llangenfi were effective at the breakdown, and following a break up-field from Dion Oliver no.6 Harri Burns crossed over. McMinimee added the extras with the last kick of the half to make it 0-17.
Fifteen minutes into the second half, McMinimee again took advantage of some sloppy handling by the home backs, and sprinted away to score his second try of the match, to make it 0-22.
Dolgellau had it all to do, and they finally got going as scrum half Simon Jones took a quick tap penalty to feed centre Henri Roberts who’s strength carried him over. Centre Gwion Jones added the conversion to make it 7-22. However another calamity in midfield saw Llangefni wing Aled Thomas sprint home under the posts. McMinimee added the conversion. 7-29.
With only ten minutes remaining, Dolgellau, were again on top and from a forward surge, hooker Alan Jones went over. Agan Gwion Jones converted to make it 14-29.
Four minutes later skipper, Rhys Roberts surged over, again with Gwion Jones conversion brought Dolgellau to 21-29.
There was still time for Dolgellau to win a bonus point or two, and with a minute remaining were awarded a penalty 40m out. Up stepped Henri Roberts to split the posts and earn his side a deserved bonus point.
