Shotton Keep Pressure On League Leaders - Comprehensive Display Ensures Bonus Point Win
Shotton were on fire with a thirteen try haul against Abergele as the Steelmen’s Backs ran amok!
Winger, Shaun Myddleton, did most of the damage with a brace of tries in either half. Stand Off Steve Ellson chipped in with a try and managed to attain a personal points haul of 29, kicking all bar one of the 13 conversions.
Flanker Shaun Kemp, Second Row Richard Smith both crashed over the whitewash and Full Back Darren Rees touched down under the posts after a brilliant kick and chase .
Abergele showed great spirit however scoring two tries, one which was converted, to give the away side a 42 points to 12 lead at the interval.
Shaun Myddleton showed his class and pace, securing his quartet of tries with two in 6 minutes as Shotton turned the screw.
Kemp increased his tally with a burst down the wing and Rees completed the rout with two more scores to give Shotton a 73 points to 12 victory.
Abergele awarded John Ketland the Man of the Match accolade, the worthy recipient the supplier of some sublime passes and rock solid defensive work.
Shotton take a Six Nations break as they ready themselves for the visit of league toppers Denbigh on 3rd March.
