COBRA bite back to secure victory
The first game of the new rugby season saw CRD welcome Cobra 2nds to Caeau Les Phillips. The pitches looked resplendent in the September sunshine but warm temperatures took their toll in the first half with the COBRA heavyweight pack enjoying playing downhill on the Seconds pitch. The pressure paid dividends and they took a good lead courtesy of 2 tries and a penalty try awarded by the referee. Half time brought hope of a change in fortunes for Dinbych with the benefit of playing down the slope. Despite this Cobra extended their lead with a try to make it 0-24.
This was the catalyst for Denbigh’s fightback and they scored four tries courtesy of Ryan Pinfold, Owen Rowlands (2) and Aled Evans-Hughes. Ryan Devenport converted three of the tries. Unfortunately one penalty was kicked successfully by COBRA giving a final score of 26-27. Two well earned bonus point for CRD was a good start to the season and we look forward to carrying the momentum into the next game away v Llanidloes next weekend.
