A minute's silence was held before Gele's away game at Flint yesterday.
The following is a statement from Clwb Rygbi Abergele:
It is with great sadness that Clwb Rygbi Abergele have to announce the sudden death of one of its longest serving and most popular members 'Sparky' Mark Jones-Davies.
Sparky died early on Monday morning on the 19th February, and is survived by his wife Emily, son Rhys and daughters Maggie and Kitty who are all devastated by their loss.
Despite being only 39 he was a member of the club for 30 years starting his playing career in the Junior Section before going through the Youth section and ultimately on to the First XV which he captained between 2005 - 2007. He also captained the 2nd XV and supported and coached the ladies section in their opening seasons as well as helping out the Junior sections over the years.
Sparky had the ability to light up a room with his warmth, friendliness, quick wit and humour and was always happy to help anyone at the club, he was often seen helping JM behind the bar and serving up food as well as a host of other tasks - always willingly, always with a smile on his face.
His passing will leave a void in the lives of his family, friends and all members of the club who are determined to keep his values of Sportsmanship, Commitment and Friendship alive in his memory.
The funeral arrangements have been confirmed by his family:
"Sparky’s (Mark’s) funeral will be held on St David’s Day 1st March at 1.00pm at the St Asaph crematorium. We welcome all friends and family.
We want it to be a happy occasion and ask that people wear whatever they like. We would particularly like it if those rugby players both old and new would wear their team shirt or colours, or just rugby orientated clothing.
Please join us afterwards at the Kinmel Manor for a few drinks and help us give him the send-off he deserves.
No flowers etc please, but we are accepting kind donations to Cruse bereavement counselling for children and the British heart foundation"
