Colwyn Bay U10 7 v Caernarfon U10 28
A great start to the season for the Colwyn Bay U10 squad. They showed encouraging commitment to the tackle for this stage of the season and all 19 players got some useful match experience. A terrific solo run from Joe Williams gave him his first try for Colwyn Bay, which he quickly followed with the conversion.
This was a solid foundation on which to build and we look forward to seeing more exciting rugby from these players in the coming weeks and months.

Colwyn Bay U12 22 v Caernarfon U12 10
A big thanks to all the parents who loyally supported the team despite the disruption due to the timing of the morning's epic effort by Wales
A spirited start to the season by a committed Colwyn Bay under 12 squad delivered a well deserved 22-10 victory.
Tight work by the forwards led by Joe Fisher and Joe Kilpatrick laid a platform for some great distribution by Will Opie and Sion Edwards at half back who used the full width of the pitch to releese the mazey running skills of Peter Jones and powerfull drives throught the centrse from Tom Cuddihy.
The Bay took the game to Caernarfon right from the start through inspirational leadership from Captain Seb Marshall which led to some fabulous driving phases of play culmanating in a darting run and unselfish distribution from Will Opie to send Carwyn Knights crashing over in the corner.
The squad was supported by some notable performances from newcomers Robbie Wilks, Nathan Jones and Aaron White who fitted well into the team and contributed to the spirited nature of the game. Caernarfon came back hard at the Bay in the second half. Particularly eminent were the Colwyn Bay players who had been loaned to them for the day Ruby Roberts and Connor Williams but determined defence led by Peter Jones supported by Sam Holt and Will Head were instrumental in holding the line. The fullback play from Sam Earl was inspired leading to a hat trick of tries from good open running and spacial awareness.
A big thanks to all the parents who loyally supported the team despite the disruption due to the timing of this mornings epic effort by Wales and the late arrival of Caernarfon.
Thanks to all players and parents for a great first game to the season.
MAN OF THE MATCH - SEB MARSHALL

Caernarfon U15 7 v Colwyn Bay U15 45
Beer and bacon baps before the kick-off (for parents only!) as Caernarfon and Colwyn Bay provide great entertainment
The boys travelled to Caernarfon for this eagerly awaited first match of the season since the recess at the end of April 2011. It was an early start to the Sunday as most of the team travelled to Caernarfon for 09.30am so that they could watch Wales play in their opening match of the IRB world cup against South Africa. In spite of Wales playing the better rugby and still going down 17:16 to South Africa, full credit must be given to CRFC for organising their club house so well with plenty of big screens, with and the bar was open to wash down the bacon baps at 09.30am!! The game was to be played at the local leisure centre across town in testing and windy conditions and one must remember that this Caernarfon team are no pushover having recently came second in the First Hydro Co Under 14s tournament in March which was played in Colwyn Bay.
For the Bay this match was eagerly anticipated as the boys had been in hard training for a month prior to this game as Ian Roberts Coach had devised a completely new training regime which develops core fitness, ball handling skills which as the score shows paid off handsomely. Also all the boys are being rotated to develop their skills in different positions Connah Harvey now back row, Scott Kane on the Wing, Adam Stroud at Centre, which was another challenge to add to the ever deteriorating weather conditions. A warm welcome was extended to Mielan Yeomans a new player playing his first game for CBRFC.
The Bay opened strongly and after two minutes Oscar Astbury Centre got an interception try under the posts which he converted. Oscar try was quickly followed by two tries from Remy Sheil Scrum Half with a “show and go” from the base of the scrum and a long range run in try fending off two brave tacklers and both were converted by Iwan COGHLAN. The forwards were not to be out gunned and “Big D” as known as Dave Edwards barged over for a forwards try with great support from the pack who were playing as a tight unit rucking and mauling against a competitive Caernarfon pack who counter rucked very well. Jake Wilson Centre added to the try list before half time with a great solo effort to make the score 33: nil at the half time.
In the second half Caernarfon started to put the better rugby that we know they can play and scored a forwards try by Llyr Jones which was nicely converted by Dafydd Lloyd. Straight from the reset the Bay were back over the Caernarfon white wash with another try from centre Jake Wilson Centre after some great tactical kicking from the backs and the occasional forward who know how to put the “leather through the ball”. Forward dominance by the Bay in the scrum, line out, loose play and the tight produced another try for Dave Edwards Prop who was again driven over by the forwards shortly before the final whistle, where the Bay ran out winners by 45 points to seven.
Today showed that the pre season training had paid off as the Bay were quicker to the break down and the handling and tackling had improved throughout the team. With reference to the tactical kicking the standard was very high and the follow up running of the kicking by the team was great leading to the opposition having less defensive time to counter attack. With Tom Jones, Joe Pitts, Tom Cauldwell and Jacob Weigh, Kurt Taylor Williams and George Roberts all still to come back from injuries and absences the squad is looking very good for the season.
In view of the great effort all round by all players including our new boy Mielen Yeoman who put in a very good performance it was difficult to single anybody out so all players who turned up today are men of the match. Next game against Rhyl on Tuesday evening 13th September 2011 and be at the club for 17.45 ready to play for a 18.15 kick off under lights. Next Sunday 18th September 2011 we are home to Llangefni meet at 09.45 and both games will be a stern test of our team. So please record your IRB World cup matches at 02.00am and 04.00am please rather than stay up all night and watch them as has been the case!!
Great effort all round boys but remember this is just the start of our season.

Caernarfon U16 58 v Colwyn Bay U16 17
Bay's lack of match preparation big factor in heavy defeat at Caernarfon
Colwyn Bay under 16's kicked off their seasons campaign with a trip to Caernarfon. They got caught napping early on and gave away a sloppy try, but they got things together a bit and after good pressure Arash Movehedi forced himself over the limewash with Corey adding the extras.
Fitness and lack of match preperation was a big factor in this fixture and we were forced to make a few substitutions which caused us to loose our shape a bit and conceded several tries. But the lads never gave up and came back strong in the last quarter with further tries for Arash and Jordan Talbot to narrow the deficit. Final score Caernarfon 58 Colwyn Bay 17
Man of the match for Colwyn Bay was Arash
