Bethesda RFC shows the power of community rugby to help out young Irish tourists.
Newydd gael stori fendigedig am ddigwyddiad Nos Sadwrn ddiwethaf yn CR Bethesda sydd yn engraifft fendigedig o rinweddau y clwb ac ein gem gymdeithasol.[/i]
Just been told about how Bethesda RFC stepped into the breach last Saturday evening when a touring U14 and u16 Portarlington Co Laois were left without a game after a mix up on their French tour.
Yn gryno, gweld neges ar grŵp facebook Midlands junior Fix Sec wnes i yn dweud fod Portarlington o Co.Laois yn chwilio am gemau dan 14 a dan 16 yn y canolbarth ar gyfer pnawn Sadwrn diwethaf!
The sequel of events started when Dylan Davies Bethesda RFC saw a note on Facebook on Thursday saying that the Irish club were looking for fixtures at U14 and U16 for Saturday afternoon in England.
Wedi bod yno ddwywaith o blaen efo timau Iau ni a nhw wedi bod acw ddwywaith felly penderfynu gyrru neges fore Gwener yn gofyn beth oedd eu hanes a meddwl trio helpu nhw ffendio gemau yn Lloegr! Roedden nhw wedi cael gemau yn ardal Bath ddydd Mawrth, wedi mynd i Ffrainc ond heb gael gemau oherwydd dryswch.
Having visited Portarlington twice in last few years with junior Bethesda sides Dylan decided to send a message to them on Friday morning to try and help them to find games in England, they had played in Bath earlier in the week before going to France but unfortunately due to a major 'misunderstanding' they were unable to play in France. The boys and all concerned were very disappointed.
Fodd bynnag, gan eu bod ar fferi o Calais i Dover, ches i ddim ateb tan nos Wener, yn ystod ymarfer dan 14 Bethesda. Gofyn yn sydyn i'r hogia pwy oedd yn fodlon helpu Portarlington a chwarae gêm nos Sadwrn, PAWB yn hapus i helpu felly dyma gynnig gêm iddyn nhw a hel criw dan 15/16 i roi gêm i dîm dan 16 y Gwyddelod.
However as they were on the Calais ferry no reply was received until Friday evening during Bethesda U14 training session. The Bethesda boys were asked whether they were prepared to help out Portalington with a game on Saturday evening, their response was an unanimous 'yes'. The game was offered and gratefully accepted also arrangements were made to get an U16 side to face the Irish boys in that age group.
Mynd adra wedyn i ddweud wrth Nia fod angen bwyd i 120 ar nos Sadwrn a hithau'n trefnu efo Siop leol Mabinogion fod Sosej a Chips i bawb, Dic tu ôl i'r bar ac yn fwy na hynny yn trefnu fod band Gwyddelig / Cymraeg, Traed Moch Môn yn dod i'r clwb i gigio!!
Moved into action for Nia (Chair) to arrange 120 meals for Saturday evening, sausage and chips from local Mabinogion chip shop. Dic and bar staff and to top it all Irish/Welsh band Traed Moch Mon for the evening entertainment.
Digon o hwyl a chanu tan yr oriau mân pan oedd y Gwyddelod yn gadael i ddal eu cwch i Ddulyn wedi mwynhau tu hwnt. Negeseuon lu yn diolch am y croeso ac mae bwriad bellach i efeillio'r ddau glwb.
Great fun and singing to the early hours when the boys left to catch their ferry back home to Ireland. A great time was had by all, the U 16 match did not finish until 10.30 pm.!!Numerous messages of thanks and appreciation received, see below, and there are moves afoot to twin the clubs.
Da iawn Bethesda.

Wedi cael neges gan Portarlington:
I can’t say thank you enough for everything that you guys did to accommodate us. Easily the highlight of the trip for everyone - and you were up against Disney!!!
I genuinely think that we should look at twinning our clubs officially. Bethesda has a very special place in our hearts, now more than ever.
Thanks again
