Despite some close shaves, last week's league results went according to form and boosted my account balance with the bookies. There was jubilation in Pant Carw when Nant in a magnificent match defeated competition favourites Maesteg Quins to march into the semi final of the WRU Plate for the second season running.
Its a battle of the basement in Div 1 this week when Bro host bottom club Colwyn Bay. A must win for the home side to climb out of the relegation positions as they have a tough run in of matches until the end of the season. Bay have battled gamely in what has been a difficult season and the fact that they beat Bro earlier in the season will spur them on.
Bethesda travel to Dolgellau on the back of a very good win at Caernarfon last week whilst Dol put up a good performance against a very strong Llandudno side eventually going down 30-9. Its a must win game for both sides so a tense encounter is on the cards.
In Div 2 a cracking local mid Wales derby at Llanidloes when they entertain COBRA, honours are even between these two sides this season with one win apiece. The home side might fancy their chances and to end up the season ahead of their opponents.
What a treat in store at Bodegroes when Nant are the visitors in the semi final of the Conwy Landrover North Wales Cup.-(note kick off 1pm). Current holders Pwllheli are in good form and Nant arrive full of confidence following their victory over Maesteg Quins in the WRU Plate. Nant are the only side to have breached fortress Bodegroes this season the only prediction I will make is that it will be a great game and very close.
Llandudno host Rhuthun in the Plate, The home side are in a rich vein of form- six successive victories whilst Rhuthun had a welcome win last week to end a run of poor results.
Newtown travel to Abergele in the Inter. Plate keen to avenge their league defeat at Pentre Mawr earlier in the season.
