Fantastic action coming up with three great finals at the weekend.
Preview Conwy Land Rover North Wales Cup Finals Weekend.
Two cracking final matches at CRBangor on Sat 12th May and another final at CR Nant Conwy on Sunday.
The Conwy Land Rover sponsored finals take place this weekend. The excitement starts at Cae Milltir CR Bangor on Saturday when the two recently promoted Div 2 sides Dinbych and Shotton go head to head in the Intermediate Cup K O 1.15pm. They have met twice this season with Dinbych coming out on top on both occasions --but it was a close run thing in their last match. Both teams enjoy an attacking type of game and their undoubted flair will add to the Div 1 mix next season. Dinbych won the cup last year in a nail biting 28-27 encounter against Dolgellau.
The Senior Cup kick off at 3.15pm , this is a repeat of last year's final when holders Pwllheli take on Bala. Bala's hopes last year were marred by a serious pre match injury to one of their players -Pwll took the cup back to their heavily laden trophy cabinet at Bodegroes after winning 32-10. They will be keen to do the same again this year also to emulate their Youth team achievement in winning NWYouth Cup last week at the same venue.
Both teams are riding high in Div 1, Pwllheli in second position will know on Saturday whether they stand any chance of retaining their league title following leaders Nant game against Llangefni. In the meantime Bala are firmly in 3rd position following a great season which has seen them playing some great open and high tempo rugby. They took Pwllheli very close at Bodegroes earlier in the season and will fancy their chances of taking the cup back to Maes Gwyniad on Saturday. The forecast is good weather which should suit both teams and we are in for a cracking match.
Just in case you have not had enough rugby on the Saturday we have the Senior Plate on Sunday K O 2-30 at Nant Conwy. Holders Caernarfon take on Llandudno.
these sides have met three times this season and if the final is anything like these it augurs well for a great game. Tudno have had a good season and when fully loaded could have undoubtedly be title contenders, they will finish 4th this season. The Cofis will be keen to retain the trophy they won last season after beating Colwyn Bay 32-5 to wind up what has been an inconsistent season for them by their standards.
One final has already been played, congratulations to Newtown who beat Bangor at Wrexham last week to take the Conwy Land Rover Intermediate Plate back to Mid Wales.
This year the Conwy Land Rover North Wales Cup comps venues have been reverted to our grass root clubs and the NWRUC are grateful to our hosting clubs and the many volunteers involved making this competition such a great example of the very best of community rugby.
