Despite Brian's best efforts most of the matches were played albeit in atrocious conditions thanks to the players, officials and club volunteers.
There were two postponements in Div 1 both in the old county of Merioneth, Dolgellau v Bethesda and Bro v leaders Pwllheli.
Nant eased to the top of the table with an emphatic 43-7 home victory against Caernarfon. The Cofis never recovered from a three try salvo in the first quarter and whilst they regrouped well in the second half and scored a brilliant consolation try late on they were well beaten.
Bala move to second place after a big 57-0 win at Maes Gwyniad against Colwyn Bay. Bay failed to build on their success last time out whilst Bala's display and recent form confirms the view that they are very much in the title chase.
There was a 'battle royale' at Cae Smyrna when Llangefni came through 19-15 against Rhuthun. This was a hard fought contest and supporters (and players) are in for a treat this coming Saturday as hostilities resume when they meet again at Cae Smyrna in the 2nd round of the WRU Plate.
Llandudno went to Mold fully loaded and came away with a 27-3 win. Tudno had seven of the Davies' clan in their ranks (must be a North Wales if not All Wales record ) and one of them Cameron went over for two tries.
In Div 2,where there were no postponements, leaders CRDinbych continue to set a hot pace defeating a game Newtown side 43-10. Third place COBRA had to battle all the way to fend off visitors Bangor winning 12-0. Welshpool were well in contention against in form Wrexham at Maesydre before running out of steam in the second period -losing 23-6. Llangollen chalked their first win of the season beating visitors Rhyl 31-19. Llanidloes lost their first league game of the season 23-0 at home to second placed Shotton Steel. I understand that the Shotton boys enjoyed the after match hospitality in the club house just as much as their victory on the pitch.
In Div 3 two games were called off, Benllech v Mach and Mold 2nds v Pwllheli 2nds. Holyhead who are in second place had to contend with a losing bonus point at Dinbych 2nds losing a game in which they had the lion's share of possession 7-3. Teirw Nant came away from Flint with a bonus point win 24-6 to go top of the table to emulate their 1st XV who top Div 1. Menai Bridge overcame gallant visitors Rhos 27-7 to move to fourth position in the table.
This Saturday 28th October our clubs are involved in WRU Plate and Bowl ties- please see separate preview. There are no league matches scheduled in Div 1 but there is a Conwy Land Rover North Wales cup tie at the Morfa when Caernarfon play Bethesda. Both sides are badly in need of a win, no prediction apart from that it will be a great game to watch between these old rivals.
In Div 2 Bangor entertain Welshpool and in Div 3 there is a full league fixture list apart from Teirw Nant visit to Holyhead as they are otherwise engaged in WRU Round 3 Bowl at Wrexham.
