Here we go again to week 6
Here we go again to week 6 and what a Saturday it promises to be with some great games in prospect followed by a mouth watering encounter at Twickenham. I feel that If we can tie the Kangaroos down I think we are on a roller coaster ride to the final- hold on tight to your didgeridoos!!
Last Saturday we had some exciting matches and my 100% card was spoilt by Caernarfon's away victory at COBRA. I realise its early season but the league table is beginning to take shape and I may have to review/hedge my pre season predictions at the end of this month.
In the meantime I can't wait for Saturday with my match of the day being the clash of the ever improving Llandudno at Nant Conwy.
Abergele welcome Caernarfon on the back of a creditable narrow defeat at Bala whilst the Cofis came away from COBRA with the spoils. These teams are jointly the highest Bonus points scorers in the league so far this season with Caernarfon undefeated away from home. Gele are looking for their first win at Pentre Mawr. This game has all the ingredients of been close and whilst home advantage will come to play the Cofis away form may carry the day.
Dolgellau travel to Mold smarting from a home defeat at the hands of leaders Nant. Mold suffered a setback at Pwllheli but gave a good account of themselves against the champions. In the corresponding match last season Dolgellau were victorious 14-8 but the Chester Road outfit may prove too strong this time round.
League leaders Nant host third place Llandudno. This promises to be a cracker of a contest between two young and were drilled sides. Llandudno had an emphatic win at home against a fancied Bethesda team last week whilst Nant put a strong winning performance at Dolgellau. The fleet footed Tudno backs may give Nant some problems but home advantage could tilt the balance in a close game. Nant won corresponding match last season 26-10.
Champions Pwllheli travel to bottom club Rhuthin. The corresponding match last season was a see saw affair with the Lleyn boys hanging on for 28- 27 win. The champions have made a steady start in defence of their title whilst Rhuthin are struggling to gain form and momentum and they may find it difficult to get that elusive first victory on Saturday.
Bethesda entertain COBRA after an ineffective performance in their heavy defeat at Llandudno last Saturday.. COBRA also suffered a home defeat in a close game against Caernarfon. Both teams have lacked consistency this season but home advantage could play its part in securing a home victory. It could be close as COBRA will be keen to avenge last season's 38-13 defeat.
Llangefni make the trip to Bala on the back of their first win at home against Rhuthin last week. Bala are unbeaten at home this season and whilst last week's success will buoy the Islanders Maes Gwyniad is a tough place to go and home advantage could edge it.
