After the WRU Plate/Bowl and Conwy Land Rover comps matches its back to full league action in all divisions this week.
In Div 1 where three matches were postponed Bala maintained their form to consolidate their 2nd place , Dolgellau with yet another losing bonus point (5) lost out at Mold whilst Llandudno had a great win at Llangefni ( incidentally spoiling yet another one of my 100% cards).
We have great matches lined up this Saturday and start with leaders Nant fresh from their WRU Plate success at Blaenavon travelling to the Marian to take on Dolgellau. Nant won the reverse fixture 24-0 at Pant Carw and whilst Dol gave a good account of themselves the leaders are the winning form side and an away win is on my card.
Bro in 9th place (P11W4 L7) make their way down to Maesdu Road to face 7th place Llandudno (P11 W7 L4). Tudno won 17-3 up at Bro earlier in the season and are going well with a great win last week at Llangefni under their belt. Bro did not see any action last Saturday and have only one away win all season. There could be a surprise but I go for a home win.
Current champions Pwllheli lying in 3rd place travel to Cae Ddol to take on 6th place Rhuthun. The home side lost out at Ystrad Rhondda in the Plate last time out and Pwll won the reverse fixture 37-8. Rhuthun (P14 W7 L7) will prove difficult opponents for the champions who will be aware that they are the side to inflict leaders Nant only defeat so far this season. Pwllheli without a game last week will have to be on top form to take the points. Close call but I go for an away win.
Bethesda struggling to get out of the relegation zone entertain 5th place Mold (P13 W7 L6) at Dol Ddafydd. The visitors beat Dolgellau last week and have an excellent 4 wins on the road record however they have the second worst 'points against' in the league table so far this season. Pesda's three victories have all been at home and they will be all out to add to that total and avenge the 32-20 defeat at Mold earlier in the season. Promises to be a tense encounter, close call but I am going to take a punt on the 'howgets"this time round.
Caernarfon (8th) P12 W3 L9 welcome 2nd place Bala to the Morfa. The Cofis out of action last week are badly in need of a W and whilst they took the high flying visitors close earlier in the season losing 24-17 I cannot see them stopping Bala maintaining their title challenge.
Bottom club Colwyn Bay host 4th place Llangefni (P12 W8 L4)at Brookfield Road. They lost 27-15 earlier in the season at Cae Smyrna in an entertaining game. Cefni had a set back last week in their winning run with a home defeat against Llandudno but should have enough to take the points on Saturday.
The pick of Div 2 fixtures is the trevor crunch clash at Meifod when 4th placed COBRA take on 3rd place Wrexham, both sides needing to win to maintain their promotion hopes. Wrexham won the reverse fixture and COBRA will need to fire on all cylinders to beat an improving Wrexham outfit.
In Div 3 Both leaders Holyhead and second place Teirw Nant have home games against Dinbych 2nds and Flint respectively-prior to their top of the table showdown next week at Pant Carw.
