The following items of information were relayed to all club delegates at the recent North Wales Rugby Union Council meeting.
Referee report to North Wales Rugby Union Council:
Did you know -
Appointments are now North Wales initiated
This season the referee appointments are pre-booked by the NWSRUR appointments sub-committee. We have been guiding the WRUR office with appointments and so far this has seemed to be working, any feedback the clubs may want to pass on can be directed to myself.
Pitch side / Technical Zone Management
There have been some noticeable pitch side improvements this season, but still we would ask for clubs to maintain and strive to improve the number of persons inside the barriers at games.
Coach; first aider; water and kicking tee carrier, preferably with bibs, should be the only ones inside the barrier, unless making replacements.
Level 1 Referees
The need for new referees at Level 1 seems to have dipped, as the course scheduled for Sir Fon has had to be cancelled due to there being only one person registered to attend.
The next course is in Newtown towards Easter time, please visit the WRU site.
Suitably qualified referees
For senior games to go ahead there must be a suitably qualified referee of Level 2 or higher appointed. If you are struggling to get referees, please think what you can do as a club:
Are you providing any referees into NW rugby?
Are you advising the appointments officer of your games IN PLENTY OF TIME?
Are you confirming fixtures promptly with the referees – Thursday evening is the expected deadline?
