Following report kindly supplied by RGC U16 management.
RGC Under 16s began their R.A.G. Programme fixtures with a loss to their Scarlets East counterparts. Whilst understandably disappointed to lose, the young Gogs can take much from the game, not least the fact that when they did go through the phases and put some shape to their game they did cause their opponents real problems.
The Scarlets dominated the 1st half and fully deserved their half-time 14-0 lead. When they scored again straight from the kick-off, the large number of travelling RGC fans must have thought the worst, but to their credit it was they who scored next through impressive outside centre Iwan Roberts and further scores were to come before the end from Finlay Hare and Ewan Denton.
Speaking after the game Backs Coach, Paul Craft said, ' The whole team can look back with credit from their performance. Yes they made mistakes but they were mistakes that can be corrected and we will be working hard on so doing over the next few weeks before our next match. I thought that our skipper Kai Herdman had an outstanding game forcing a number of turnovers as well as very much leading by example and he was ably supported by amongst others Huw Davies and Efan Mutembo. However as I said at the beginning this was very much a team performance and one which we will look to improve upon as a team'
