Cafwyd tywydd hynod braf yn yr ornest hon rhwng Bae Colwyn a Nant gyda heulwen cynnes ond awel ysgafn yn sicrhau nad oedd yn rhy boeth. Fodd bynnag, fel sy’n dilyn cyfnod o dywydd braf, mae wyneb y maes yn caledu ac roedd hynny’n wir heddiw.
Wedi dychwelyd o gêm hynod gorfforol yn erbyn Bryn Mawr yn rownd derfynol y Plât yr wythnos diwethaf, nid oedd yn syndod gweld fod Nant wedi newid llawer o’r tîm a chwaraeoedd yn Nghaerdydd. O’r dechrau, bu i Nant reoli’r gweithredadau gyda’r cais cyntaf yn cyrraedd yn y 2 funud cyntaf.
Chwaraeoedd Nant rygbi rheoliedig a chyda’r tymor yn tynnu tua’r terfyn, ceisiwyd ennill pwynt bonws am 4 cais mor fuan â phosibl er mwyn cadw’r pwysau ar frig y tabl. Gyda’r amcan hwnnw wedi’i gyflawni’n fuan yn yr hanner cyntaf, bu i Nant wneud llawer o newidiadau pellach a oedd yn arddangos gallu chwaraewyr i chwarae mewn gwahanol safleoedd ac, yn ogystal, dyfnder y garfan. Trwy’r holl chwarae, gwelwyd pêl gyflym wastad, cyflymder a thriniaeth gelfydd o’r bêl.
Er tegwch, ni chafodd Nant eu ffordd eu hunain gyda Bae Colwyn wedi troi allan gyda phac cryf a oedd yn awyddus i gystadlu, ac, a lwyddodd i wneud hynny tipyn o weithiau. Fodd bynnag, fel y gwelwyd o’r sgôr derfynol, roedd y pac trwm ddim cystal heddiw a phac ysgafnach symudol yr ymwelwyr.
Bellach, mae nant yn edrych ymlaen at eu gêm nesaf – yr un olaf ond un yn y gynghrair y tymor hwn. Byddent yn chwarae Llangefni gartref brynhawn Sadwrn neaaf gyda’r gic gyntaf am 2.30 o’r gloch.
Gallai’r canlyniad fod yn un a all benderfynu pencampwriaeth Adran 1 y Gogledd am y tymor. Os gwelwch yn dda, beth am wneud pob ymdrech i fod yn bresennol er cefnogi’r bechgyn?
Fel pwynt arall, llongyfarchwn y chwaraewyr oll, yr hyfforddwyr, Rheolwr y Tîm a’r ffisios am eu hymdrech arbennig ddydd Sul yn Stadiwm y Principality. Bu i’r rhai ohonom a oedd yn ddigon ffodus i fod yn bresennol yn y Brifddinas dystio fod Nant Conwy i’w weld ar ei gorau tros fwrw’r Sul. Diolch ichwi un ac oll!.
Weather conditions at the Colwyn Bay encounter couldn’t have been better, with wall to wall sunshine and a light breeze. However as is usual following period of fine weather, comes a solid playing surface which was noticeable today.
Having returned from their very physical encounter against Bryn Mawr at the SWALEC plate final last week, it was no surprise to see Nant turning out with a number of changes.
From the “off” Nant took control of proceedings with their first try coming in the initial 2 minutes.
Nant played controlled rugby and with the season quickly drawing to a close, were looking to sniff out a bonus as quickly as possible in order to maintain pressure for the league’s top spot. With mission accomplished well within the first half Nant made a series of changes which demonstrated player interchangeability and depth in the squad; throughout we were treated to a demonstration of quick ball, devastating speed and skilful ball handling.
In fairness, Nant didn’t have it all their own way; Colwyn Bay put out a strong forward pack eager to make headway and, at times, held their own. However, as reflected in the score, they were no match for the strong agile Nant pack.
Nant march on to their penultimate encounter at home V Llangefni next week K/O @ 2.30pm
This could be the decider for the top of the table spot please make every effort to support the lads
As an aside, we congratulate all the players, coaches, team manager and physios for their huge effort last week. Those of us who were lucky enough to travel to Cardiff witnessed Nant at its absolute best. Thank you one and all.

Dolgellau 7 v Llandudno 45
Following report kindly supplied by Dolgellau RFC.
A hat trick of tries to Llandudno flanker Bob Davies and four more for good measure, was enough to sink a depleted Dolgellau, in this end of season contest, where both sides decided to throw caution to the wind and play an entertaining, expensive game from start to finish.
Dolgellau started brightly and wing Rob Pugh came close on a couple of incursions deep into Llandudno territory. However, after 25 minutes the pressure from the visitors was beginning to tell, prop Lewis Jones opening their account out on the right. The score was converted by full-back, Ryan Pike to make it 0-7. Five minutes later came Bob Davies’ first try from a five meter lineout. In the last minute of the half wing Rhys Henderson set up Bob Davies’s second try with Welsh Bowl final referee, Dylan LLyr, playing advantage for a high tackle. Pike added the conversion to put Llandudno 0-19 ahead.
From the re-start, Dolgellau knocked on whilst running back the kick-off, Llandudno centre, David Davies sprinted home the fumble. Again Ryan Pike was accurate with the conversion to make it 0-26 at the interval.
It did not get any easier for the home side in the second half, and centre Ed Weston barged over in the fourth minute. Pike’s conversion making it 0-33.
Dolgellau full-back Gareth Hughes almost put in wing Ieuan Brooks, but Dolgellau were dealt a cruel blow as outstanding no8 Rob Lewis had to leave the field with a nasty knee injury, leaving Dolgellau to play the last half hour with fourteen men.
In the last quarter the visitors rammed home their superiority with Bob Davies completing his hattrick, with Pike’s conversion taking it to 0-40, and stand-off Lloyd Evans completed the scoring for them with ten minutes remaining.
Spirited Dolgellau never gave up and had the last word, with advantage being played, skipper, Gerwyn Thomas, put in wing Ieuan Brooks for a try in the corner. Centre Henri Roberts converted to make it 7-45
