Denbigh RFC round-up
Although only one mini junior fixture was played this weekend, it was still an eventful few days for the Club.
On Friday, the Under 10s and Under 9s were given the honour of acting as flag bearers for the Russian team before their international fixture against Japan at Parc Eirias. The team players then went on to entertain the crowd in a half time demonstration game against Ysgol Bod Alaw. Dinbych's young players all enjoyed being part of a great occasion and their conduct did the club proud.
The only team in competitive action this week were the Under 16s who hosted Bro Ffestiniog at Caeau Les Phillips. Despite the absence of a number of key players, Dinbych took a 8 try victory. Centre Rhys Lloyd crossed for two tries as did replacement fly half Louie Lloyd Jones who was making his debut step up to the older age group from the U15s.
Dinbych's other tries came from Rhys Davies, Gruff Roberts James Fisher Jones, and Harri Evans. Gruff Roberts added 3 conversions, with Aled Douglas converting 2 and second row Rhys Davies showing his versatility by adding a sixth conversion.
On Sunday, the mini section host neighbours Rhyl at Caeau Les Phillips, whilst the Under 13s and U15s make the reverse journey to the Waen.

Ruthin Youth 39 v Llangefni Youth 10
Ruthin Youth travelled to the Isle of Anglesey to face old rivals Llangefni, who just edged them to win the League last season. The Blues came away with a comprehensive 39-10 win after drawing 10 all at half time.
Several minutes in Ruthin lost utility back George Gardner with a dislocated shoulder, with débutante Nathan Jones coming on to fill his role in the centre. Ruthin flanker Mat Roberts opened the scoring with an unconverted try which was soon followed by a Llangefni penalty to bring the scores to 5-3.
The Blues opened the gap to 7 points when Scrumhalf Jamie Jones went over in the corner which was again unconverted. Just before the break, Cefni levelled the scores with a converted try to make it 10 all.
The second half was all one way traffic in favour of the Vale of Clwyd side, the Blues scored 29 unanswered points. The floodgates opened when Mat Roberts went over the whitewash to grab his second of the game. But shortly after Ruthin were faced with another injury woe when prop Owain Jones was forced off with a shoulder injury. Jones was replaced by the experienced Ryan Roberts who was playing his first game since early September, after suffering damaged ligaments in his ankle at Wrexham.
Roberts proved a worthy replacement for Jones after powering over the try line to give Ruthin their second of the half. Ruthin opted to changed kicker and Nathan Jones kicked his maiden points for the youth team.
Ruthin continued to exert their dominance when inform Hooker Danny Miller cut through the Llangefni defence to only be chopped down just before the line. However, help was at hand as towering Lock Matthew Tetlow recovered the downed ball to go on to give Ruthin another 5 points. The Blues were in no mood to just sit back, impressive link up play in the backs opened the gap for barnstorming Nath Jones to smash his way over the try line to get his forst youth try.
Mat Roberts finished up the scoring and completed his hat trick after sniping off the back of a bulldozer-like Ruthin maul. Another great team performance, revenge is sweet!
