Congratulations to Aberavon Quins Youth who defeated Nant Conwy in the final of the WRU National Youth leagues play-offs.
North Wales Youth champions, Nant Conwy, failed at the final hurdle as they attempted to end their season unbeaten.
A well-drilled Quins side proved too strong on the day against the young Gogs as they took the title with a 29-7 win.
Whatever the result, it has been a tremendous season for Nant's Youth team, who still have a North Wales Cup Final against Llandudno to play (date and venue to be confirmed).

What a great experience for these young Nant players to play at the Cardiff Arms Park. The boys arrived at the ground early to get a flavour for the ground and have a walk out on the artificial pitch. A good solid warm up followed by an exciting entrance onto the field as both teams lined up side by side in the tunnel. Then out to big applause from a decent sized crowd, support was strong for both sides but the Nant faithful edged the numbers and given the distance they had to travel that was fantastic.
The whistle blew and Aberavon Quinns kicked off, the ball secured by Dylan Coulter who drove back into the Quinns forwards. Unfortunately Nant were penalised for holding on and the Quinns kicked the penalty to give them a 3 point lead after only 30 seconds of play. From the restart the Quinns were looking really sharp and used their big forwards to drive at Nant. The defence held firm but another penalty after 7 minutes stretched The Quinns lead to 6. There then followed a bit of parity as both teams went at each other relentlessly. Nant were awarded a penalty but Delwyn unfortunately dragged it wide. The Quinns pack was using the driving maul to good effect and went over Nants line after 18 minutes, but couldn't convert it. A further penalty to Nant was missed. Half time came quickly with the score 11 - 0 to the Quinns. Both sides went inside to cool down as the temperature on the pitch was high.
Nant started the second half strongly and scored a well worked try with Scrum half, Guto going over and running under the posts to make the conversion for Delwyn easier. That spurred The Quinns on who stuck with their game of keeping it tight amongst their forwards and setting up driving maul after driving maul. This was tiring the Nant boys but as always they never gave up and created chances of their own with strong running from the forwards especially Geth Vaughan tying The Quinns defence in and then releasing their exciting backs, but the Quinns organised themselves well and little errors meant Nant couldn't score try as they might. The Quinns scored another try and were then awarded two further penalties one as Nant infringed trying to stop a driving maul that started on half way and nearly got over Nants line. The clock was ticking down and Nant just couldn't get a foothold in the game. The final seconds saw another try rumbled over the line which gave a final score of 29 - 7, which really didn't give a true picture of the game.
Well done to the boys who in the after match speeches were told that the two teams out there were the two best youth sides in Wales which for such a small Club is a great honour. Well done to Aberavon Quinns who were deserved winners on the day.
The boys would also like to say a big thank you to all the supporters who hopefully had a good night out in Cardiff afterwards!!!
