Battling display by the RGC Under 16's not enough to prevent away win for young Dragons
RGC 1404 under 16’s welcomed the Dragons under 16’s to Rydal Penrhos School on a lovely afternoon made for running rugby.
Unfortunately for the home team it was the visitors who started the brighter and were on the score board after 2 minutes when centre Tyler Morgan scored in the corner following some neat back play.
Morgan was on hand to score again and a conversion by Scott Turner made the score 12 – 0, but the home side rallied and after a period of pressure in the Dragons 22 they were awarded a penalty which was slotted over by outside half Morgan Williams
This seemed to spur the Dragons on and it was they who raised the tempo with two further tries from Taylor Dimmick and Todd James, the first converted by Turner to make the half time score 24 -3
Morgan and Turner were again prominent for the Dragons during the early exchanges of the second half, scoring two tries both converted by Turner, but credit must go to the home side as they battled bravely throughout the match and were awarded with a fine try of their own after 53 minutes when Jake Dickinson finished off a neat move, with a
try in the corner.
However it was centre Morgan who rounded off a fine individual display with the last converted try of the game to make the final score 45 -8 to the Dragons.
Next weekend sees the squad taking on the Ospreys at Corus RFC (Tata Steel) Margam, Port Talbot
