The RGC GMG Youth Cup kicks off this week with 8 fixtures for the last 16 teams that have reached round 2. The revamped competition has a fresh and exciting feel about it and with an open draw and knock out rugby there are sure to be some surprise results. A preliminary round has already taken place before Christmas, from which Bro Ffestiniog, Rhyl, Denbigh and Llangefni qualified to the main Cup competition with Bala and Holyhead going through to the Bowl competition.
The winners and runners up in The WRU North East and North West namely Cobra, Newtown, Nant and Bangor have been seeded for this round and have been drawn away from home. The eight winners will qualify to the quarter final stage with the eight losers playing in the Plate. The format aims to avoid any miss matches so that all teams will find their level and compete for some silverware. All fixtures are scheduled to be played by 16th February 2019.
