Ruthin started their run-up to the new season with friendlies against Llangollen at home last Wednesday and Colwyn Bay away last Saturday
The Blues are grateful to Colwyn Bay who agreed to play the match at the last minute.
The Blues, fielding a squad comprised largely of second and youth team players, beat Llangollen convincingly 43-12 with tries from Lee Pope, Bryn Bolton, Huw Foulkes, Rich Manley, Owain Dafydd, Will Mitchelmore and Ed Mason. Deian Williams kicked four conversions.
Saturday’s squad against Colwyn Bay also won convincingly with the Blues scoring 6 tries against the opposition 2. Ruthin scorers were Kieran Morris (2), Clwyd Jones (2), and Steffan Parry and Kyle Davies with one apiece. Shay Tudor scored two conversions. Unfortunately Gethin Hughes this season’s captain injured his hand and had to have treatment at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
Ruthin play away at Whitchurch on 27th August in the last of their pre-season matches before facing newly promoted Bala at Bala on 3 September.
