Big crowd turns up to support appeal and watch the 'Golden Oldies' strut their stuff...
Bala Vets 14 v Ruthin Vets 12
Last Sunday Bala Veterans played Ruthin Veterans in a game to raise money towards the Bryan (Yogi) Davies Appeal. Unfortunaly Yogi could not attend the game on the day but he sent his apologies.
A good crowd turned up to support both sides on the day and they were not disappointed in the game as the old players from years ago showed the youngsters on the touchline how the game should be played.
Bala won the game by 14 points to 12 points with Bedwyr Jones and Arron Jones scoring a try apiece with Gwilym (Gwgs) Jones and Ynyr Jones kicking 1 conversion each.
After the game all the players went to the Plas Coch to enjoy some food and to talk about games from their heyday before watching Wales beat Ireland. An auction of rugby shirts and other prizes followed before seeing off our Ruthin counterparts.
A sum of £2854 was raised towards the appeal and we would like to thank everybody that contributed on the day.
The £2854 was made up of :-
Auction £940.00
Gate & Tea money £557.70
Sweep £110.00
Raffle £216.30
Personal Contributions £1030.00
Bala RFC would like to thank everybody for making the day a success.
