The North Wales clubs, at their recent AGM, agreed to significant changes in next season’s North Wales Cup Finals.
Next season, 2017-18 will see the North Wales Cup Finals back up to four competitions (Senior Cup, Senior Plate, Intermediate Cup and Intermediate Plate).
It was also agreed that the games, two on separate consecutive Saturdays, would provisionally be scheduled for Saturday, April 14th and Saturday, April 21st, although this will need to be confirmed once the season gets underway.
The most significant change is that the Finals will be played at a North Wales club ground, rather than Parc Eirias, which has staged the finals in recent years.
A spokesman for the North Wales Rugby Council said: ‘It was felt that as the North/Mid Wales clubs were participating in this competition that a couple of these clubs should be rewarded with hosting the Finals Day. All participating clubs will shortly be receiving an application form and, if they wish to be considered to stage one of the Finals Day, they can fill in this form and apply. We anticipate that we will need to be at the quarter or semi final stage of the competitions before we will be in a position to announce which clubs have been successful’.
