Player of the Six Nations Dan Lydiate may still make the 2013 competition as he is ahead of schedule for his return from injury
The Dragons man has been out of action since breaking his left ankle in his region’s match against Edinburgh in Newport in late September, and had been expected to miss a large chunk of Wales’ defence of their European crown.
But Lydiate is significantly ahead of schedule, and may yet make the opening game on February 2, when Ireland come to the Millennium Stadium.
“He is on course for the start of February,” revealed Dragons coach Darren Edwards.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if Dan has a half of rugby for us and Wales throw him straight in.
“He’s that important – we saw how much he was missed during the autumn internationals.”
