For the first time in many years, Dolgellau Ladies will feature in the semi-final of the Welsh Cup or Bowl

Dolgellau travelled to Whitland on Sunday, 29th January to play the Division One side in the Bowl Competition. As with every other game this season, the Dolgellau side were up against it as they are never quite able to field a full 15. With the North Walian's squad yet again diminished by injury and other commitments, they were yet again willing to put up a show despite knowing they were at a two man disadvantage.
The pitch at Whitland was seriously waterlogged, and in all honesty the game should never have gone ahead. However, the referee upon inspecting the pitch said that had we of been a more local team, he would postpone the fixture for safety, but as we had travelled 3 hours to get there, the game would go ahead and he would manage the rucks and scrums accordingly. As well as the waterlogged pitch, the air temperature was below freezing with snow having been forecast.
The match got underway and immediately Whitland exploited the overlap in the backs for their winger to go cross for a try. A second try followed quite quickly, but then Dolgellau found their rhythm and started to hit back. Unfortunately, despite some sterling defence, the Doglellau team just couldn't contend with the 2 extra players on the pitch which to their credit, Whitland used to their great advantage. Full credit to the Dolgellau team though, as their scrums were stable throughout, despite being one player short up front.
The game was abandoned early due to the adverse weather conditions, in fact one Whitland player failed to make it back on the pitch after half time due to the freezing conditions.
