Players at the RGC U16S and RGC U18s got a little more than they expected when they attended Rugby training at the Brackley training fields Rydal Penrhos Colwyn Bay last week.
Both Squads have been working hard for the last three or four weeks on their pre-season skills before the beginning of the Age Grade season.
Last Wednesday all the players turned up expecting nothing different but, 30 mins into the training session, the players got a very very large surprise in the appearance of the huge frame of George North.
George had a very short break from his busy schedule and had come home to visit his parents and also used this time to pop in to the new facilities at EIRIAS PARK and visit the RGC Senior team, coached by another Welsh international Chris Horsman. George then travelled the short journey down the road to visit the RGC age grade squads.
Marc Roberts the WRU Performance program manager said:
”It was a great surprise for all the players and coaches to see George, he is a young man from North Wales who has achieved exactly what most of these 15-17 year old rugby players aspire to.
When you take a moment and think about what he has achieved its difficult to believe that he was playing for the RGC U16S only four or five years ago himself.
I know he has an incredibly busy schedule so for him to make some time to spend with these players is a fantastic gesture. All the players responded well to George and I just helps to cement the inspiration and aspiration that exists in the North Wales Region”
