Titles/Promotion already decided in Divs 2/3 but still a lot to play for in Div 1.
First of all apologies -my Grand National tip came a cropper, Bethesda bred 'Chase the Spud' was pulled up for loitering.
Full programme of games across all divisions this week also watch out for mid week tussles over coming month as the season draws to a close and clubs catch up with outstanding fixtures.
Leaders Nant have a blank Saturday before their momentous trip to the capital in the Plate final next Sunday -29 April. This gives reigning champions Pwllheli the opportunity to narrow the seven point gap. Mathematically the Llyn side can move from their existing - 79 points to a maximum of 94 points if they win their remaining 3 matches with bonus points- a feat they achieved last year. Nant are on 86 points will have three remaining games to get to 101 points with bonus point wins but maybe crucially in case of a tie they currently have the most WINS which would be the deciding factor. The countdown starts this Saturday when Pwll visit in form Llandudno.
At the other end of the table The Cofis pulled their finger out after flirting with relegation with a good win at Bro who now need to win on Saturday to make themselves safe. Rivals Dolgellau realistically need at least two bonus wins in their remaining three matches to stand a chance of avoiding the drop. The no of wins factor is against them as Bro have already clocked seven wins against their three.
End of season matches especially those involving title/relegation battles are notoriously difficult to predict but here goes--
Dol Ddafyd is the venue for the final game of the season for both 8th place hosts Bethesda and 7th place visitors Rhuthun. Both teams lost out last week and will be keen to end the season on a high--close but I go for a home win.
6th place Llangefni travel to Bro with the home side desperate for a win to make themselves safe from the drop. Cefni have been out of sorts of late and a home win is on the cards here.
Third place Bala make their way to the Morfa to take on the Cofis -please note 2pm kick off. The hosts returned to winning ways last week with a good win at Bro, this could be close but I take the in form visitors to bag the points.
Bottom club Colwyn Bay travel to Dolgellau- a must win for Dol to retain any hope of survival-they will be keeping a close eye on what happens at nearby Bro for a win by the Quarrymen will seal their fate. Home win.
Match of the day will undoubtedly be at Maesdu Road when 4th placed Llandudno entertain current champions Pwllheli. It was a close run thing at Bodegroes earlier this season and who can forget their epic encounter last season when Pwllheli clinched the title. Tudno are in a rich vein of form having won their last 10 league games in impressive style. In current weather conditions this has the makings of a great contest. Pwllheli need to win to have any realistic chance to retain their title but Tudno will not make it easy for them and on current form could have enough to cause an upset.
In Div 2 after just missing out last season hearty congratulations to CR Dinbych who have clinched promotion to Div 1 -
A tasty local derby at the Rec when Newtown host COBRA .
In Div 3 Teirw Nant already promoted host Rhos at Pant Carw whilst there is a great game between 2nd and 3rd in the table at Holyhead when Pwllheli 2nds are the visitors.
